Vote out the Sick World of the Szájers, Borkais, Kaletas

Called Péter Márki-Zay yesterday afternoon. I for my part miss the boss, the creator, and the high priest of that sick world: Viktor Orbán. It is the time of the year in Hungary the évértékelő is held, the evaluation of the year, which is here not limited to the head of government or state like for example the state of the union speech. Orbán used his one to open the campaign and to predict that Gyurcsány and Bajnai would return if he would not be re-elected – and to tell the EU unattainable conditions that would allow Hungary to remain EU member. Now it was the turn to Unity for Hungary.

Anna Donáth (chairwoman of Momentum) called for a better education, a better treatment of teachers. Reacting on the latest decree allowing teachers to strike after working time only (yes, after working time) she pointed out that the future of the next generations is depending on education and that there is no education without teachers.

Péter Jakab (chairman of Jobbik) said that the opposition has learned the lesson of the 2018 elections, when Orbán reached 2/3 in parliament only because the opposition was not unified. The elections would not be about him, but about us, he said, about all Unity for Hungary.

Klára Dobrev (MEP for DK) put the emphasis onto the fact that it might depend on a few 1000 votes that could allow Orbán to continue or could allow creating a free, respectable, and European Hungary. She reminded to the smear campaign of the years and decades behind and that the opposition despite all attacks did not move away. “Here we are and we are stronger than ever before.” For her the unity of the opposition is the most important. Since the parties learned to talk to each other, to disagree, to debate, but also to find a compromise. Although some say that DK would be the strongest party to dominate Unity for Hungary she declared that she wants to be the strongest link in this chain.

Péter Márki-Zay wanted to show his very average background as catholic father of 7 – BTW neither believing nor having so many children could be regarded as Hungarian average – and quoted Orbán concerning corruption, who said before the 2010 elections that “he would cut off everyone’s hands, who would grab into public coffers.” With the repeatedly got majority in parliament and the funds from the EU Hungary perhaps could not have reached the level of Austria, but make of Hungary a country that would be at the level of other neighbouring states. Instead Romania took over. The result is not only that Hungary is among the poorest and most corrupt countries of Europe, but also the country where people live the shortest time.

Of course he would not abolish everything introduced the last 12 years, no matter whether it concerns the közmunka, the indoor smoking ban in public areas, the passports given to Hungarians abroad, or the border fence. Instead of what the most corrupt government of the last 1000 years would tell they would not lower but increase family benefits, they would also stand up against the paedophiles, even those in FIDESZ, to protect children. For a more intelligent and greener overhead cut, and to protect against the terrorists fetched into the country by FIDESZ.

The country went not forward, but constantly downward since 2010. “Honest, conservative, Christian people cannot vote on FIDESZ!“ While Orbán held only his evaluation of the year in front of a selected audience he has toured through the country. Something Orbán doesn’t do. And Orbán despite of making many words he doesn’t address the problems of the country. Not a single word he had for the 43 000 Hungarians died through the pandemic. At this place he remembered several people out of his personal environment that died. Since Orbán did not remember to them MZP declared that he would do so now. A short silence followed.

He reminded that under Orbán Hungary went down to the 2nd poorest country, the country where 74 % live under the EU poverty line. This while from year to year the state debt grows, now the inflation as well, and at the same time our nets minimal wage is among the lowest in the Union. Millions live in Hungary from day to day, teachers, policemen, and nurses give up the profession to sit at the cashier of a supermarket for an income that allows surviving. This country made millions to stay in poverty, while a few cared for themselves and their friends. This is the core of the Orbán system. Yachts, private planes, luxury villas. In 12 years a gas fitter has grown richer than the Queen of England for being the frontman of Viktor Orbán. A 35 years young man became multibillionaire, because he is the son-in-law of Orbán. The world of 133 brave men, being under or awaiting prosecution, the executor mafia, where a diploma just costs a phone call, looks down to the ordinary people working for their living, those writing laws are not bothered by following the laws. This is the sick world of the Szájers, Borkais, and Kaletas. This world needs to be voted out on April 3rd.

The PM at daytime sees the castle of Buda to return in the evening to his own private castle, the PM who dares only to go to a kindergarten with a bulletproof vest and bodyguards. A man who only sees the country through the windows of a car. Orbán wanted the weakness of the Forint for cheap production, for the same reason he introduced the slave law. While it could be otherwise. With better education, with qualification of the workforce, an economy with well-paid jobs could be created. Orbán decided differently, especially for the rural population. No wonder that many left the country for a better life. The same way he betrayed the teachers, Hungary has the least paid teachers in the entire OECD. Following to this we have a teacher shortage that leads to the closing of schools.

Not only the future of the children is brought in vain the last 12 years, also the health care has broken down. “Think about how many you have paid in private practices, if you are able to afford, how much you have paid for being tested the last years, 10 000s we pay, while those tests with public money were destroyed.” There is no reason to save money on treatments that would safe lives. Hungarians live 5 years less than average Europeans because of the crackdown of the health care and the long waiting lists. Instead this money is used for building stadiums.

In the midst of the pandemic the government started war against the healthcare employees. The hospitals are lead by the minister of the interior and soldiers, the minister responsible minister for health is leading excavations, while vaccinating with Chinese vaccines was the decision of the foreign minister. Austria free tests, Orbán free parking offered against the pandemic. The Austrian government gave grants to the communes, Orbán took money away from the Hungarian ones. The Austrians gave journalists access to hospitals, Orbán threw out the patients as well. Not that everybody could have been saved, but from 197 countries in the world 196 did it better than Orbán did. As only country in the world Orbán gave the Chinese vaccine to senior citizens, which he bought for twice the price as an average corrupt African country, Senegal. Even with the protection against the pandemic Orbán only used for stealing.

They took one thing after the other into own possession. The fields, the woods, the newspapers, the radio stations, the internet portals, the power plants, the gas networks, the banks, the insurance companies, the execution offices, the casinos, the tobacco shops, and there is no end. Now they want to steal the health care, the petrol stations, and the entire retail. They want to throw out of the country the Lidl, the Aldi, the Spar, the Tesco, and the Penny. We know where this leads. Less choice, less quality, higher prices. We will be poorer, they richer.

But there is already success booked by Unity for Hungary. Why Orbán did not pay the 13th pension earlier, but only after the opposition united? Why did he right now raised the közmunka wages or close to EU levels the gross minimum wage? Without Unity for Hungary there would be no presents, but just a hate campaign. So everything is to be thanked to all the opposition politicians. But still we are not on the needed level. The last 12 years the pensions have lost 13 % regarding the purchase power, a 5 % pension rise now, while the inflation is at 10 % means 5 % less in reality. After 30 years to reintroduce state prices for food is just a campaign stunt.

But where is the money? The money missing in our pockets, the EU billions, 1000s of billions? Money in the neighbouring states was used to improve economy, health care or education. I will tell you: in paper bags and in plastic sacks [remark: refers to bribes in the Völner case.] It is the money the Orbán family bought hotels in Austria and in Spain.

Where the regime wants to buy a company and the owner doesn’t want to sell to those guys with sunglasses, the state authorities come. Tax office, food safety authority, or others come to make up the owner’s mind through enormous fines. Where is no safety in investment neither Hungarian nor foreign investors are interested in investing. As this would not be enough the ECJ yesterday ruled that the EU doesn’t need to pay Hungary as long as rules are not obeyed. Hungary has lost 15 000 000 000 000 Ft (42 250 000 000 €) or every single Hungarian has lost 1.5 million Forint (4 225 €.) This verdict says as long as Hungary’s PM is a thief this money is not paid out.

Márki-Zay wants to live in a country where his children don’t need to look at billboards with regime propaganda. Now he wants to get the country away from the evil, as in Hódmezővásárhely he already did. He named the things he has introduced in his function as mayor, while the same time he both abolished the country’s highest building tax and reduced the debt inherited from the FIDESZ town administration to the half. Now Hungary. The responsibility is enormous, but he is standing out for this as well. This means to compromise, and with his allies he also compromised. He wants to govern not for Putin or a Chinese Communist Party migrant university, but for doubling the family benefit, to rise the minimal pension, and to reduce the taxes on low earnings. For a country where not higher prices are important to the government, but higher wages.

The health care must be able to get the life expectations of Hungarians at the level of the EU average. Abolishing the waiting lists and making access to private practices available at insurance costs. The schools must be handed back to the councils, teachers paid for the hours they work and making relevant learning materials available. This while the prestige projects must be ended, no longer building empty stadiums. No need of running football academies for the private pleasure of the PM with public money. Culture must be freed, universities given to the students.

Last but not least to join EPPO. Starting an anti-corruption agency to discover where public money and EU funds have been used for the enrichment instead for millions of Hungarians. We want to introduce the Euro to be sure having a strong currency and to fight inflation. Further we will lower the VAT on basic foods to 5 %. Ending the tobacco monopoly. The system created to subsidise the multinational companies investing in Hungary will be used for the half amount for Hungarian small and midsize companies.

While we will protect our borders together with [EU] Frontex and keep the fence up, we will investigate all the migrants brought here by FIDESZ to be able to send those criminals among them sought for as terrorists or otherwise internationally to the authorities of the countries looking for them. With Orbán we have already enough criminals in the country, we don’t need to import more.

Against the lack of workforce in 1st instance education should be used, as well as searching for a way to enable the return of those young people who left the country. We will take the law seriously and go against all kind of discrimination. Nobody may be disadvantaged any more for the colour of skin, believe or sexual orientation. MZP said that he is proud having gypsy brothers in the hall and he would do everything to lift their lives up.

We will investigate the Budapest – Belgrade railway and the Paks II nuclear power plant projects to hold traitors accountable and to close contracts only on basis of mutual advantage, also with China and Russia. Search for illegal ground purchase contracts to reverse them. Freeing the media from the FIDESZ lying factory, ending financing of the FIDESZ media empire, but encouraging the media to keep an eye on governing. He as PM would not flee from the press and would be open to debate with every challenger. Further he wants to rebuild the trust of Hungary’s allies in the West, EU and NATO. He wants to recover the state property from university and National Bank foundations. Over a new constitution the electorate will decide in a referendum. A constitution offering breaks and a balance of power that will prohibit to deal with democracy again as Orbán did.

So he called to vote for the candidates and the list of Unity for Hungary everywhere. Bad enough, he said, voting on every other candidate would only be in the advantage of Orbán. The same is true about everybody who doesn’t vote, this would only help Orbán to stay in power. The only key for change is unity.

When his 8-year-old son asked MZP about all the billboards and other defaming material all around he answered that it would be like in school, where a big boy is terrorising and stealing. If someone tells him not to do so, that big boy would punch him. In the country he now stood up and told to stop. But if all the small children would stand up together behind the one who said “no” they make a chance against the evil one.

To the end he called for March 15th to gather in Budapest, but even more on April 3rd to show that we are the majority.

This I have taken from the facebook page of Márki-Zay ►HU. At the end was announced that this evaluation of the year has been watched life on social media more often than the one Orbán held. ATV also broadcasted this life, which alone is pretty much a sensation. Because it took longer than planned ATV ended early, but changed program in the evening to show it in full.

I found these two aspects of what is believed to be Márki-Zay’s perspectives interesting that appeared in this post. First “will investigate the Budapest – Belgrade railway and the Paks II nuclear power plant projects to hold traitors accountable and to close contracts only on basis of mutual advantage, also with China and Russia. Search for illegal ground purchase contracts to reverse them.” Second Márki-Zay “wants to rebuild the trust of Hungary’s allies in the West, EU and NATO.”

It is honestly not possible for Hungary to do a balancing act between international hegemonic nuclear powers looking both east and west. Germany is honestly trying to find a way out of this dilemma too, but Putin is forcing this issue to a conclusion by promoting the nuclear threat against the west all the while claiming it is just a rational response to the hostility of the west towards Russia. My country the USA is also forcing this dynamic too because we see the Russian mafia state as a global existential threat to the existing forms of international capitalism and trade, we also see China is a similar manner.

Apparently Márki-Zay and many Hungarians do not see the world this way. Unfortunately as Mao once said all power flows from a barrel of a gun, all trade relationships are subject to military power dynamics that ultimately (and maybe insanely) driven by ability of the three superpowers to destroy life on this planet through the horror of nuclear warfare.

These are terrifying times for someone like me raised in the cold war and having been a participant in it, most people in the world just tune out these horrible prospects going on with life. Márki-Zay who is only 49 years old was barely a teenager during to last days of the cold war needs to gain some historical perspective on all of this. But by choosing to become a political leader Márki-Zay will not have that option.

I couldn’t agree more. The current conflict in Ukraine should serve to reinforce the alliance of democracies and NATO. It has been badly strained not least by US policies towards long standing allies. Similarly the German energy question has been neglected and needs to be addressed the soonest. Germany’s anti nuclear obsession is, I expect, a product of ever present Russian influence and potential subversion. All alliances must be those of the willing. If, as you say, Orban wants to ride two horses simultaneously he must be made to choose. Hungary is a small country with a small economy. Orban must be made to choose. Isolating him and throwing Hungary into Putin’s arms maybe painful for many of us, but losing Hungary is a prize worth paying to preserve strong Democratic and liberal international cooperation.

Regarding your applicition of the term: “obsession” to Germany’s principle stand on nuclear weapons within Nato members – You have some reading up on Europe to do!

I believe Robert’s reference was related to nuclear energy, not weapons. Germany participates in the NATO nuclear weapons sharing arrangements and trains for delivering United States nuclear weapons using German Tornado fighter bombers.

There are thought to be around 20 warheads at the German Büchel military base, but it formally a state secret. When I was an officer with the US Army in Germany there were many more warheads in Germany.

Internationally it does seem that nuclear energy is being promoted as at least part of the solution to the green house global impact of fossil fuels. Even a very large country like the USA has a problem with the storage of the spent rods. High-level radioactive waste primarily is uranium fuel that has been used in a nuclear power reactor and is “spent,” or no longer efficient in producing electricity. Spent fuel is thermally hot as well as highly radioactive and requires remote handling and shielding. Nuclear reactor fuel contains ceramic pellets of uranium-235 inside of metal rods. Really the opposition to establishing waste storage sites underground is consistently opposed by people who live near those proposed sites.

There is no easy solution to our situation. The US military has had a huge problem with nuclear waste at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the US state of New Mexico where our nuclear warheads are made, refurbished, and tested. There was a small fire last year from one storage drum of this waste material that was contained but it wast very scary and there was an evacuation of the facility.

Los Alamos has identified 45 barrels of radioactive waste so potentially explosive — due to being mixed with incompatible chemicals — that crews have been told not to move them and instead block off the area around the containers that has become public knowledge due to media reports (see https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/report-some-los-alamos-nuclear-waste-too-hazardous-to-move/article_59875868-f3b9-11eb-8af9-fb6a70a28705.html ). For a big part of my US Army Reserve career I served at an arsenal in Illinois, but went around the country and even to Italy and Turkey doing analysis for the DOD. Storing all of this stuff is nightmarish and the Russian facilities are much more dangerous than those in the USA.

I misunderstood your point, sorry!
Germany’s drive for replacement with non-nuclear and non-fossil energy is surely not a symptom of obsessive thinking, but rather a consequent reaction to decades of dealing with the effects of severe pollution, caused by the use of traditional and nuclear energy sources.
They too have their share of radioactive dumps, most of it in old mine shafts with questionable accessability.

Istvan and Michael, I don’t have your expertise on nuclear waste creation and disposal. How does France cope with most of its electricity nuclear sourced?
I accept, of course that there is no magic bullet that solves these tricky problems. Often there have to be hard choices. I am bound to say, and this is not with the benefit of hindsight, but I would prefer to bite off a huge chunk of nuclear energy waste disposal issues rather than to buy 1 cubic enter of anything the Russians want to sell me. And that includes Beluga caviar. I would by it from the Iranians.

Just for those obviously unnecessary trollish hints like France is doing …, France is a nuclear power, Germany is not. I don’t even think Michael got your point wrong …

Don, so you think the issue is the obtaining of and the ability to process the nuclear fuel and not the nuclear waste disposal issues for Germany. You think France can generate safe nuclear sourced energy because it is a nuclear power and Germany cannot because it ain’t? Have I got that right?
