This article https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-10-31/shocking-new-details-blow-up-conspiracy-theories-about-paul-pelosi-attack and similar ones destroy the team Trump gay prostitution theory on the Pelosi attack. It will make no difference to them. Many Trump supporters live in a closed universe.
They are similar to Hir Tv viewers in Fidesz. Some do watch Fox News, but many function only in the social media universe. The inflation issue in the USA has pushed even some Hispanics into the Republican camp, but they offer those very hard working US citizens no real solution, just tax cuts.
In the forest lands we own in the State of Wisconsin most of the lumber contractors we use are now using Hispanic workers. Most of local less educated white workers who did this dangerous work have moved out of it in the last 15 years.
The lumber contractors are exclusively white and the ones we contract with are all graduates of Forrest management programs. One is in fact from Finland. Where he was an executive with FM Timber Oy a privately owned sawmill company located in Northern Central Finland.
He is completely fluent in Spanish, English, and Finnish. He also speaks some Hungarian. He is beginning to use some robotics and all cuts on our land are very detailed based on gps mapping and the age of the trees. Each of the trees to be cut is coded several years prior to cutting and growth rates are tracked.
We cut the legal minimum to receive agricultural property taxes, and since part of our Forrest is next to tribal land we allow tribe members to hunt it. Fortunately global warming has so far been kind to us, and the Ho-Chunk Nation provides aggressive fire control to those lands.
The tribe own 4,602 acres (18.625 km²) scattered across parts of 12 counties in Wisconsin and one in Minnesota. There largest concentration abuts our Forrest so if we burn so would they. Since my wife and daughters are members of the Iroquois tribe from the Seneca clan in New York State our relationship is very good. My wife can speak some of the Ho-Chunk language which is Siouan based language, I know only a handful of words. The language also incorporates some French that goes back to 1600s and there are tribe members with French names.
Some of the leadership of the Ho-Chunk Nation is Republican I think because of their ties to the Casino industry. The tribe has bad relations with Wisconsin Republicans and has aggressively litigated against mining in Wisconsin and opposed Fracking. The tribe will buy our Forrest land from our Trust when my wife and I die. Our daughters will inherit one house in the Forrest. The tribe has educated a group of young members in environmental law and they have won many cases.
The radicalized culture, practiced by Trump-Republican extremists and the Far-Right, seems more and more like a challenge the dialog based American democracy can’t contain. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins’ “We have to decide that we’re going to be more respectful as an American society”, contrasted by Fox News host Jesse Watters’ “People get hit with hammers every day”, shows very clearly that any respect has gone down the drain a long time ago.
The comment from Jesse Waters of Fox is scary as heck. Thanks Michael for sharing.
Fox is really fascist now!
On my smartphone I have a selection of google news with many sources, Germany, USA, UK etc
And usually just reading the Fox headline makes me shudder.
Funny example:
You surely all have heard about the attack on Mr Pelosi. Now the latest news on Fox is that the crazy attacker is …
An illegal migrant from Canada.
That’s the only important point for them, not his poltical position.
Hungary’s friendship with Russia – seems that many Russian diplomats enjoy it after having been sent away from other countries:
There were 46 Russian diplomats serving in Hungary at the end of November last year, but their number gradually increased to 62 by the end of October this year. By comparison, there were 35 Russian diplomats in London, 20 in Warsaw, and 15 in Bratislava
https://hungarianpolitics.com
Ain’t that nice?
Over at least ten years, Orbán’s Hungary steadily achieved the position of Russian intelligence hub inside EU. I’m sure this status draws due attention from several sides, unofficially, of course.
Michael, yes!
That article says that around two thirds of Russian political agents are also active in “intelligence”.
Wonderful for them that they can travel all around the EU after having entered Hungary …
Two thirds?! And that’s not even counting all the “sleepers”, half of whom are women, who are busy integrating themselves into various local business communities and universities. Many of them are actually close relatives of FSB officers, but have been issued constructed, new national identities.
Sziasztok guys …. good to see a few of you are still here contributing and keeping this site going; I’m guessing some other like me were somewhat disillusioned with Hungary after the election results and dropped off.
It’s not unreasonable to assume that overabundance of Russian officials in Hungary are “diplomats”. What is it with Hungarians, they commemorate 1956, but forget what happened and who was involved.
It seems to me that many of the former contributors at HS have given up – there are more important things in the world like the war in Ukraine or the US elections.
Who cares what happens in Orbanistan?
Nobody in the EU …
My wife just doesn’t want to leave because of her young ones in Budapest so I’m still here.
Thanks Phil (and Wolfi and Michael) for threads on so called Russian diplomats. Orbán regime has found a new “axis” of fellow regimes.

There was a loonie comment by “Mariavontheresa”, one of the trolls that used to be on HS.

My wife does not allow me to eat as much as I want to throw up:
From Hungarian Politics on Fidesz “security expert” Georg Schöttle who reminds me of Steve Bannon, *ucker Carson etc:
Spöttle makes no secret of who he supports in the Ukrainian conflict. On the Ultrahang podcast, the openly pro-government commentator said, “I don’t hide my views. I fully support Russia in this war.”
And then this guy shows an obviously (!!!) fake video?
And I feel ashamed that so many other “German Hungarians” like Deutsch and Bayer are also friends of Putin – or paid by the Russian oligarchs in Hungary?
Fremdschämen is not necessary here Wolfi.
Spöttle – why not Gúnyolódásike?
It seems that the Viktor’s Hungary has a thing or two to learn when it comes it’s status as a thieving nation; apparently big V’s occupying forces in Ukraine may have stolen a whole nuclear power plant.
from the Guardian:
‘Russian officials have reportedly announced that Moscow-installed authorities have begun integrating the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant into the jurisdiction of Russian nuclear power plant operator Rosenergoatom. Renat Karchaa, adviser to the general director of Rosenergoatom, said the transition would occur after the plant uses up all available fuel reserves.
The integration of the plant and its personnel into the jurisdiction of Rosenergoatom has begun, the Russian-installed head of the the adjacent city of Energodar, Alexander Volga, told Ukraina.ru:
“After the arrival of the operating organisation from the Russian Federation, work began on integrating the plant and the personnel themselves into the jurisdiction of the Rosenergoatom concern. The people who remained decided on the choice of the country in which they would live. Residents chose Russia as their place of residence, place of work. ZNPP is already an integral part of Russia.”
that was spam?
I am currently in Ft Collins Colorado visiting our daughter who is a professor here and also a Reserve US Army Lt Colonel at a base nearby. I went with her to nearby Francis E. Warren Air Force Base to go to the base exchange and a prearranged tour. I have a retired officers ID and my daughter has a Lt Col ID.
We both were sharply salute d by the Air Force ground security guards, which has not happened in a while for me. We went shopping at the exchange and bought a lot of frozen items well below market prices.
We then went on a tour of part of the 90th Missile Wing which controls operates 150 LGM-30G Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles on full alert 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Its missiles are dispersed in hardened silos to protect against attack and connected to underground missile alert facilities through a system of hardened cables. I was given an additional ID prior to entering the area of the 90th Missile Wing.
The commander is a woman Air Force officer who is a friend of our daughter Col. Catherine Barrington who is very bright and well educated. It’s been a long time since I saw one of these towering missiles from behind a blast glass secure area, possibly capped by a nuclear warhead or maybe not. I was told not to ask such questions when I was given my second ID with my photo on it that was probably sent a few other places too.
It is pretty clear to me President Biden is not joking when he talks about a massive retaliation if the Russians were to use nukes in Ukraine. We had lunch with Col Barrington and several other officers who were very interested in my own military history and who all seemed to be a very responsible officers and took their awesome responsibilities very seriously. They did not like all the current media talk of Armageddon going on, even their own children get frightened by it. They saw their role as preventing that from ever happening. In fact the security at Warren is such that both my daughter and I left our cell phones turned off in our car.
OV “remembered” on twitter 1956.Nov.04, the day when the Soviets/Russians viciously crushed the spontaneous started Hungarian Revolution:
“Today is a national day of mourning. They crushed our revolution in 1956, but our love for freedom and sovereignty lives on to this day. #freedomfighters””
Now what did the ‘ungarian lidur “forget” to mention?
Well WHO were the “THEY” in his text… seems extra appropriate in these times…
Here’s a picture from 1956 with the proper text:
Oroszok Haza!! = Russians Go Home!!
“They crushed our revolution in 1956, but our love for freedom and sovereignty lives on to this day.” “but our love” As if Hungary was still occupied by the USSR. 😀
The Kremlins left and I Orban brought them back. I Orban even reintroduced the old greasing system and today we eat lard bread again like before when we were freedom fighters …
Thanks Ferenc. The photo is worth a thousand plus words as the perfidy of this regime is clearly at work regarding the current Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Putin in a “meeting with historians and representatives of traditional religions of Russia” on November 4, 2022
“Now we see the arms of the leaders of Poland and Ukraine, but the idea is alive. And the idea of the absorption of Ukraine, it has not gone away. But almost nobody knows this. This is only in archival documents.
Just as surely – not certainly, but definitely – the idea of returning those territories that were torn away from Poland is spoken of, it must be said directly about this, by Stalin after the Second World War. Large, large areas from Romania, from Hungary were torn away. It was no coincidence that I said in Valdai that Russia could be the only real, genuine guarantor of Ukrainian statehood and sovereignty.
Russia also gave Ukraine its historical territories, but voluntarily, in order to create a single, common cultural, humanitarian, historical space. And those territories that I just mentioned above, they were forcibly torn away from Hungary, Romania and Poland. These are completely different situations. “
Poland and Romania rejected Putin’s implicit offer of Ukrainian territory right away.
The Orban government is silent so far.

This story on the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-63535263 is titled “Ukraine war: Kyiv Mayor Klitschko warns of evacuations in Kyiv if power lost.” It was also covered by The NY Times. Apparently the Ukrainian government is not anticipating the Russians will exhaust their supply of cruise missiles and or drones any time soon.
The Putin controlled media in Russia also covered the story on a possible evacuation of Kyiv due to Russian strikes. From what I saw the Russians presented it as a legitimate response to what Putin is quoted in the articles as stating was a series of “terrorist attacks” masterminded by Kiev on Russian soil.
The Russian activities can only be compared to the (in)famous way Hitler started WW2 against Poland

Putin’s propaganda factory (which is a main purveyor to Orbánistan) tries hard to revive pre-war nationalist arguments.
It doesn’t matter that the effort is lost on most living Europeans. What matters is the historic reference.
A prime example of post-Soviet pseudo-relevance in the 21st century.
Hmmmm… curious claim. If this propaganda is lost on most Europeans, what is the point of it? After all, the pre-war nationalist arguments are substantively those of today and resonate deeply in Hungary, for example… i.e. nostalgia for a lost imagined past… powerful stuff and apparently pursuasive, no?
I don’t mean to underestimate the potential for national political regression, which is the main effect of entertaining these idealized dreams of bygone national grandeur. The world has turned and moved on past the point of stopped historic clocks.
Since we still live with democratic decisions in most of Europe, the vast territorial claims on behalf of national minorities in Eastern Europe cannot realistically be substanciated by counting heads. The exceptions would be very small enclaves, such as Campione d’Italia, not the drastically redrawn map the historic dreamers see for themselves.
I wonder if territorial claims are subsidiary to ‘pushing the right buttons’ ideologically and thus securing or sustaining power (in any case, what on earth would poor nation states do with new territories and populations when they canhardly sustain their existing ones?). Yet, these myths and narratives resonate deeply with many people and once charismatic leaders approriate them they offer considerable potential for manipulating populations… the purpose is power in its muti-dimensions. Territorial claims are largely symbolic, I suspect, but work effectively to create a narrative that is, evidently, effective for preserving power. It matters not whether any given population understands historical details they encounter (neither necessarily do charismatic leaders), which are often half-truths (even lies!) cleverly embroidered in various ways. What matters is that these myths are symbolically powerful and pursuasive and combine with other initiatives, in the economic domain for example to secure hegemony.
In the case of Hungary, you are certainly right!
The last 100+ years show that maintaining the romantic claims of an old and semi-mythical kingdom is the only premise for defining the nationhood as well as preserving a pattern of avenging strong-man rule. At first with the insertion of a monarchial figure substitute as head of state, then through unofficial entities and influential clergymen, and now again, retrospectively oriented in an uncritical manner with Orbán.
Absolutely, I think we often underestimate the psycho-social aspects that you refer to here. Bibó István is very sharp on these issues as they relate to Hungary.
I can already see Elon Musch interfering in the elections in Hungary. Private persons should not have so much power.

Reason: the expectation is that the EU will be soft with the Orban again, and will give most of the 40+ billion euros earmarked for Hungary to his regime.
In the newly created anti-corruption (“integrity”) authority, two of the three appointed leaders (the vice chairs) are proven servants of the regime.
But this ridiculous fig leaf will satisfy the shy eurocrats.
If the EU gives in again I give up hope for them.
Every day O1G and his honchos clearly show “wes Geistes Kind sie sind” – even the Polish PIS distances itself from Hungary now.
I don’t like the term eurocrat as it is too vague and suggests that it’s a one single body. In this case, the EU Parliament has clearly shown its will to sanction Orbán. The Commission is sort of sitting between two chairs as usual but mostly (always?) follows what the Council decides and this is where the final call to allocate the € 40+ billion will be made.
Orban wants to take over one of the last remaining independent internet news sources in Hungary, 24.hu.
The Tax Authority charged the owner of 24.hu with “fraud” today.
He had to go to testify at the Tax Authority. He and his lawyer were not shown the text of the denunciation.

Always the same trick a Fidesz wants something – to get it easily – a threat of license revocation for a cheap offer or license revocation. You could get upset if you do not know the opposition otherwise you can only shrug your shoulders. Only that with the Patriot I still have not understood …
Nearly 300 Republicans on the ballot this year have challenged the outcome of the 2020 election. Now all that’s missing is Trump or DeSantis as president huhhh …
Yes one of those who support Trumps false claims of election fraud is Wisconsin Senator Johnson.
He spoke on Thursday near our property we harvest timber on in a city named Black River Falls against his Black Democratic opponent Mandela Barnes.
Johnson said that Barnes in fact detested rural whites in Wisconsin and it was Barnes not him that was a racist. Barnes is from Milwaukee the largest city in Wisconsin and Johnson is running commercials warning that crime will be spreading to rural white areas if Barnes is elected. One I saw showed African American looters breaking into stores too. The crime in Milwaukee is nothing in comparison to Chicago or St Louis by the way. It’s very ugly this election and there is a very real possibility Trump supporters could take control of the US House and Senate.
Ron Johnson is a Republican figurehead in nothing a role model. You don’t have to be afraid of the Democrats, only of the Republicans who have mutated into enemies of the Democrats.

But because the Fidesz government doesn’t need to be concerned with facts, the disgraceful Foreign Minister can get uppity with Ukraine saying it should be thankful to Hungary for having taken in 1 million refugees (!!!). The shamelessness is astonishing.
And sadly a big part of the Hungarian population will believe the lie and follow the government-induced pettiness (“If Ukraine is not grateful for out efforts, why should we do anything for them”), revanchism (“Ukraine mistreated the Hungarian minority, so now they get what they deserve”) and victimism (“the treacherous West got Ukraine in trouble, like it happened to Hungary in 1956”).

As usual, you do a great job with summary of relevant statistics. The sad role of Hungary regarding Hungarian refugee settlement is terrible. On the other hand, some refugees, after fleeing the Russian regime may not want to risk staying in a poor country run by an autocratic mafia regime. In any case, given how many countries welcomed Hungarian refugees in 1956, the regime record is shameful. And the refusal of the Hungarian regime to provide any arms, let alone allow the land transfer of arms to Ukraine is equally shameful.
The net result of the US midterm elections at the federal level:
House:
Republican majority (more than half?? of them are Trumpists…)
Senate:
unchanged (50-50) if Warnock of Georgia can win in the second round on December 6.
(Democrats won Pennsylvania, but lost Nevada)
If he loses, the Senate will have a 51-49 Republican majority.
Currently based on races called by the AP news service the majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate are undecided. I was very pleasantly surprised that the election contest between Wisconsin Republican Senator Johnson who has been running pretty much of a racist campaign against Black Democratic opponent Mandela Barnes is too close for AP to call. I had real concerns that some white Democrats would abandon him.
But all commentators including Faux News already know who’s responsible for the GOP’s bad results:
It’s the Donald!
No real red wave it seems, Orbán will be very disappointed.
CNN just agreed with my prediction for Wisconsin. Unfortunately, senator Johnson’s racist campaign was successful.
All right.
Nevada:
Trumpist Laxalt (R) can still lose, because 20% of the votes have not been counted yet, and these votes were mostly cast in Las Vegas.
I remember the old Laxalt was very proud of his Basque heritage.
But Laxalt will win.
His lead is 22,000
[Clark county=
164000 outstanding * 0.05]
–
[Washoe county = 72,000 outstanding*0.04]
–
other Republican counties
< 5,000 net votes to the Democratic incumbent Cortez-Masto.
NYT prediction about the uncounted votes:.
Clark: +29K for Cortez,
Washoe: +11K for Cortez,
Other counties total: net +12K for Laxalt.
Sum = +28 K.
If NYT prediction is proven correct, then
Laxalt can still lose by
(29+11-12-22) = 6 thousand votes.
(But I do not know how NYT came up with these estimates)

Fidesz’s incompetence has ruined the country. Felt inflation in Hungary is 100% per year. You only have to compare the prices of the previous year. Almost everything is twice as expensive, some things even triple. Who has Euro is at an advantage Orban is a failure 🙂
“Hungary, which has seen the sharpest rise in food costs in the European Union, is becoming a new hotbed of inflation among the union’s 27 member states.
The government announced Wednesday it would extend price caps on five staple foods to include eggs and potatoes. The measures were announced after data showed annual price growth rose a full percentage point to 21.1% in October. Hungary is closing in on the three Baltic states with the highest inflation in the EU.”
My wife tested it already:
At the LIDL the products with limited prices were already sold out at 9 am.
We’re lucky to get very good eggs from the free range hens of a neighbour (900 HUF per 10 – used to be 600 not too long ago) but she now sells only 10 eggs per week to each family of her customers/neighbours/friends
New food price cap on eggs and potatoes will make the Hungarians happy though, they can continue eating rakott krumpli. I realised that among the foods with price caps there are no vegetables but again, this is Hungary. (My father-in-law’s reaction when we ask why he doesn’t eat any greens other than csalamádé: “nem vagyok kecske”…)
That the potato is an important source of food in Europe, we probably have to thank the “Old Fritz” Frederick the Great. He issued potato orders 15 in number to fight hunger and poverty and he expanded the education system. Even today, potatoes are placed on his tombstone in memory of him.
Viktor the Small also had a vision – his people should get potatoes whether they starve or go to the polls. It is, so to speak, also an extension education system … mäh.
The Tschalamade in Burgenland is a cooked vegetable. The Hungarian Csalamade is something like the “Russenkraut” or the “Pusztasalat” … I have read.
After 56 many fled to the West also for economic reasons. There, a new start was difficult and everyone who wanted to build something had to save. Therefore, there were often potatoes in every conceivable form and when the Hungarian relatives asked what there is to eat then there was Kartoffel Erdapfel und Grumbeere.
Burgonya aka krumpli are the stuff that calories are made of, very important for a hardworking Hungarian. Everything else is kind of luxury.
Reminds me of my father who as a sergeant in Hitler’s army came from Prussia to the river Neckar – just in time to meet that lovely woman who became his wife and my mother.
He would eat no rice nor noodles, not even the fantastic Spätzle that my grandmother made.
And also no tomatos, just Sauerkraut …
However that changed over the years, when I was a teenager I would make Toast Hawaii for the whole family and even he enjoyed it.
If one draw parallels that Orban’s policies create to the post-war period, that says a lot, doesn’t it?
Totally OT and not really important:
Just realised that the clock of the blog is still on CE summer time …
Opposition MP Hadhazy:
The new “sunshine” law about public spending is intended only to fool the eurocrats to get the billions of euros from them.
Such legislation was already in the books, but it was not possible to enforce it. The new law similarly does not penalize the government entities for hiding the spending data.

Three hours ago:
Russian Defense Minister Shoigu ordered Surovkin to withdraw troops to the left (eastern) bank of Dnipro river.
The key town of Snihurivka is liberated, the Russian troops have blown up several bridges over canals and rivulets to slow down the Ukrainian advance while they are withdrawing.
Investigative article !!
#1 Antal Rogan is Orban’s long-time minister.
#2 He oversaw the “your money for a Hungarian green card” scheme (2013-2017), in which private intermediary companies reaped enormous profits instead of the Hungarian state.
#3 Russian spy chief Naryshkin’s family also got green cards through this scheme in 2015.
#4 Naryshkin’s son is registered in a downtown Budapest apartment owned by Rogan’s old friend Shabtai Michaeli, a Georgian-Israeli dual citizen.
#5 Propaganda minister Rogan became the the boss of the Hungarian spy agencies in 2022.

I’m wondering how Fidesz feels about the US midterm elections. Their friends were not as successful as they expected.
So no Trump, no change in the US Ukraine policy.
And in the EU it’s similar.
Now what will O1G do to show his friendship (or should I say admiration for …???) with Putin?
“German lawmakers push for hard line on Hungary over rule-of-law concerns”
“EU countries will have to decide next month whether to suspend about €7.5 billion in EU funds for Hungary under a rule-of-law conditionality mechanism, or whether to judge that the anti-corruption reforms Budapest is presenting as a mediating measure are sufficient to drop the sanction. Similarly, the EU has been holding back Hungary’s access to €5.8 billion in coronavirus recovery funds and is requesting further judicial reforms before releasing that money.
Anti-corruption campaigners in Budapest warned this week that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is duping the EU with his reform promises, which experts and activists call insufficient.”

Paks should run until Orban is 84/94 😀 so I suppose …
“Actually, the last unit of the Hungarian nuclear power plant Paks I should be shut down in 2037 at the latest. Now the government wants to push back this end date by ten years – even by 20, if “more comprehensive renovations” are carried out. That’s according to a bill that Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjénr will submit to parliament on Thursday, according to the Telex news portal.”
We are used to a lot of nonsense, but what Szijárto said right now:
All of Hungary’s friends have triumphed in the midterm elections in the United States, the Hungarian foreign minister said on Wednesday.
Source: dailynewshungary.com https://dailynewshungary.com/government-hungarys-friends-have-won-in-the-us-midterm/
Do they really believe Trump has won the elections?
Dailynewshungary has more articles on Hungary being Putin’s vassal, crazy!
But we want the EU money!

I didn’t think these guys might get even crazier!
Especially funny are the more than 400 reader comments on this – you’ve been warned!
There was a fundamental problem with the team Orban analysis of our elections over here. The Republicans are starting to eat their own.
Meaning the so called Freedom caucus among the Republicans is basically opposed to the current House leadership of the party.
This Washington Post article
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/11/11/senate-republicans-mcconnell-midterms/ discusses some of the infighting going on among Republicans .
Trump is pretty viscously attacking every Republican that he sees as a potential opponent for the Republican nomination for President. Trump for the most part speaks in questions and rarely speaks in full sentences anymore. President Biden does very poorly now in one on one interviews, but does follow a script in address but can still drift off when going off script. With staff issuing corrections.
It’s obvious that the current political leadership of both the Democrats and Republicans are far too old. These characters seem to want to die in office. I am in my 70s and I am largely retired, particularly from doing any governmental lobbying work on veterans issues or on military procurement at both the State of Illinois level and Federal level.
The need for rapid recall of massive regulations becomes more difficult with age so I stopped trying. The older politicians I dealt with were dependent on younger staff members for legislative recall. In effect their declining cognitive abilities allowed their roles to be reduced to picking from menus their staff gave them.
Hopefully, Trumps hyenas will make such a mess of the Rep. party organization, that the functional part of the House leadership takes a more responsible course.
After all, economy, geo-politics and climate won’t wait for the outcome of a neo-conservative value war.
US House races, as of 1 PM EST, November 10:
Republicans have won or are leading by more than 3%: 215
Democrats have won or are leading by more than 3%: 206
Republicans are leading by <= 3%: 6
Democrats are leading by <= 3%: 8
Electricity market prices for November 11:
Scandinavian countries: 0.02 euro/kWh !!
Germany: 0.12 euro/kWh
Hungary: 0.20 euro/kWh
https://euenergy.live/
Since August 1, 2022: Hungarian customers have been paying MVM = Orban government
0.18 euro/kWh (= 70.1 Ft/kWh)
Natural gas prices on the European market (Dutch TTF)
February 23: 0.08 euro/kWh
August 26: 0.34 euro/kWh
November 10: 0.11 euro/kWh
Since October 1, 2022: Hungarian customers have been paying MVM = Orban government (over a first tier), which the government propaganda calls “reduced”:
0.18 euro/kWh
(Calculation: 767.2 Ft/m^3 = 72.72 Ft/kWh = 0.182 euro/kWh)
https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/eu-natural-gas
Remark:
The European natural gas market price was 0.17 euro/kWh on October 3, and was lower than the official 0.18 euro/kWh EVERY SINGLE DAY since then.
First tier:
Households get the first 13.66 kWh/month
[ 1729 m^3/year = 144.083 m^3/month = 13.657 kWh/month]
cheaper, at the price of
0.024 … 0.025 euro/kWh.
[Calculation: 99.9 … 104.7 Ft/m^3 = 0.024 … 0.025 euro/kWh]
maximum savings from the first tier price:
(0.18-0.024)*13.657, i.e.
2.13 euro/month.
Only Hungary and Turkey are still to ratify Sweden and Finland’s application – nothing to do with supporting Russia, obviously: https://telex.hu/english/2022/11/03/deputy-minister-says-there-are-many-important-issues-to-be-discussed-by-parliament-not-just-swedish-and-finnish-nato-accession
In the meantime, the press here has been speculating for days that Palkovics has resigned as Minister for Technology and Industry – apparently he wants Hungary to increase its share of green energy by investing in wind power, instead of relying exlusively on Russia (including expansion of Paks nuclear plant)…
https://telex.hu/english/2022/11/10/hungarian-minister-of-technology-and-industry-resigns
Oh Palkovics wants an anti Orban direction in energy. After he orbanized the morality of theater and science, you don’t even know which idiot is giving the direction.
November 11, 2022:
Otban the new Turk is among his dictator siblings.
It’s so crazy that it’s almost funny …
Faux Fascist news reports on the US elections:
Far-left district attorney candidates who appeared on November ballots and received backing from billionaire George Soros have swept their elections, according to a nationwide search of records and election results.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/george-soros-backed-district-attorney-candidates-sweep-elections
Of course it’s totally different when Repugs like Thiel invest billions of $ for their candidates
That channel pulls Rep. voters around by the nose and makes tons of money doing so.
Love this cartoon.
The Organization of Turkish States is pleased – the participants wave. The most Turkish is the extreme right alias “Defender of Christian Europe”. 😀
If you just imagine them to hold their arms and hands a bit higher up …
I have no idea how dictators of Turkish descent worship Adolf. 🙂
If you goggle “adolf hitler turkey” for pictures you find a lot of crazy stuff …
I searched for “Turkish descent”.
The freezing nights will start in Ukraine on November 17.
Putin’s sick mindset regards the Ukrainians as the modern day Nazis, and remembers that the Soviet army was most successful in the winter.
Will the Russian army attack from the S – SE (Zaporozhie – Vuhledar) direction?
(The Ukrainian defenses must be weaker there, because they did not have 8 years to build them)
Crazy:
Putin told his troops to take the remains of Potemkin and a statue from the cathedral in Kherson to Russia.
Well, his empire reminds me more and more of a Potemkin village …
https://edition.cnn.com/2022/10/28/europe/potemkin-remains-removed-kherson-ukraine-russia-intl/index.html
National symbolism and meticulous, ceremonial labelling and hymnic celebration of all matters dubbed “national heritage”, has been a mainstay in Putin’s domestic politics for many years. The idea is to create a national scenography, reflecting his vision for reclaiming historic grandeur.
As the effort to materialize territorial demands has little success, more and heavier emphasis is applied to the symbol-politics.
But Potemkin?
Have you read about “Potemkin villages”?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potemkin_village
I propose to call P… Putinkin to show wes Geistes Kind he is.
I’m familiar with the Potemkin scenery concept. The idea is a fitting description of Putin’s virtual propaganda reality and it comforts the majority of Russians, who earnestly believe they are being attacked by the evil West.
A contribution to the teacher demonstrations from the Südeutsche Zeitung
“No teachers, no future!”
“… At the same time, many government supporters are also angry about the neglect of education , says Gabor Gyori of the think tank Policy Solutions. That’s why teachers’ unions and strikers ostentatiously distance themselves from the opposition parties; they avoid forming political camps and don’t want to be called Fidesz opponents. …”
… don’t want to be called Fidesz opponents? 😀 That will never work ….
Last night my wife and I attended a concert in Madison Wisconsin, really the center of liberal politics in that State. During a break between songs a member of the audience yelled out the Democrats have just been declared the victors in the Senate race in the State of Nevada between Catherine Cortez Masto the Democrat and Adam Laxalt the Republican. That effectively means the Democrats will maintain control of the US Senate until 2025.
The crowd of around 300 broke into mass applause at the news, even though the concert was not in the least some sort of Democratic party fund raising event. The terror of Trump coming back to power and the Republicans seizing control of Congress actually broke for some people in the room at that moment. The tension among many here is the US has been massive during this vote count.
“November 9, 2022 20:12
If NYT prediction is proven correct, then
Laxalt can still lose by
(29+11-12-22) = 6 thousand votes.”
And the NYT algorithm was correct !
Cortez-Masto 487,829
Laxalt: 481,273.
487829-481273 = 6,556
By the way even the Trump supporting Breitbart News site formally owned by Steve Bannon reported this election result as a fact and did not make immediate claims of election fraud in its lead article today on the Republican defeat in Nevada. There were over 15,000 rightwing responses to the article and many of those made claims of fraud but with no factual evidence at all.
Even the right wing Fox news agreed that the Republicans had lost that race. Apparently even Fox news now is not supporting Trump’s bid for the Republican nomination. It appears they are looking for a new right wing option in the form of the current governor of Florida Ron DeSantis. Trump is very bitter about this likely development, maybe he will move to Hungary with his good and loyal friend Orban.
I bet the Orbán camp is very busy preparing the red carpet for De Santis, while trying to stay on good terms with Trump.
Et tu, Orban!
This month’s special.
LOL.
Of course Rupert Murdoch owns Fox and other news outlets. This is the cover of one his his newspapers.
Now the big questions are:
Is de Sactimonious worse or better than Trump?
I’m not so sure about this “don’t say gay” loonie who spends a lot of money to send refugees to Martha’s vinyard
and wants to pun ish Disney for being too tolerant/woke/whatever.
Will he have a chance in 2024?
Whom will the Dems present as candidate? Biden will surely not continue.
Will you get a female president even?
PS:
I found it so funny when the Hun state news proclaimed “friends of Hungary had very good results at the US elections”. Seems they don’t understand the US system at all.
And they still expect the EU to pay for all their sh*t …
In my opinion, De Santis is a Trump clone, only with better manners.
It is not impossible that Biden will run for another term. Being in my 70s myself I can’t see that level of work intensity any more. I also need a good nap after my workout.? Biden obviously is a driven guy.
Chemistry?
The nursery Rhyme/ Fairy tale theme is appropriate …. another that fits well;
Trumplethinskin.
Rupert is over Donnie, not so much Lachlan … best hope Rupert doesn’t die before nov 24.
LOL.
This is how close the House race is at 9:00 PM EST:
Republican (has won or is leading by > 51%): 216
Democrat (has won or is leading by > 51%): 210
Leading by less than 51%
Republican: 6
Democrat: 3
Zsolt Bayer is having a cognitive problem with Trump being thrown down a szar lyuk by many of his right wing funders and promoters in the USA. So he becomes an election denier for the USA, and attempts to cast aspersions on the entire electoral system in the USA. In this video https://magyarnemzet.hu/kulfold/2022/11/bayer-zsolt-szerint-ismet-bizonyossagot-nyert-hogy-milyen-az-amerikai-demokracia-allapota-video good old Zsolt does that.
The problem is Zsolt’s and in fact the entire Fidesz narrative about Trump has been shown to be a joke played on Fidesz supporters by Orban’s minions. Orban is actually far more pragmatic than old Zsolt, he knows that the western right wing politicians are tools for various factions in the west and they can come and go depending on their utility in promoting the faction’s wealth and power. The politicians of the right in the west are not really Mafia bosses like Orban is and are subject to periodic replacement.
But Zsolt really can not say the Hungarian Mafia state is superior to the west because of the absolute power it is giving to Orban. The delusion of Hungary being a democracy must of course be maintained. No its because Hungary has a real democracy unlike the west.
Suffering from “scabies” Zsolt Bayer thinks Hungary is superior to the West … and his master begs for money in the West … what superiority. 😀
I respect your analysis.
This story https://telex.hu/direkt36/2022/11/14/russian-spy-chiefs-son-has-a-budapest-address-in-a-property-owned-by-an-old-friend-of-orbans-chief-of-staff really is something since just a day ago the head of the CIA William J. Burns was meeting with Sergey Naryshkin in Turkey.
I have to assume the CIA knows all about how Hungary is allowing the family of the head of the Russian SVR to hide out in the west and Hungary in particular. It’s a small world indeed.
What it takes for Hungarian voters, to actually get out and show that they are getting tired of the same old shit, is unknown.
But it will take a lot of self-examination.
All the question-phrases, on which 100+ years of politics are based will have to be revised, in public.
See my remark on November 10, 2022 10:52
