The World has lost its Mind

Again in Székesfehérvár Orbán has ended his campaign, just as in 2018. There he said that the world has lost its mind. One might start thinking, whether these could be the only true words he uttered the last 12 years. Spoiler: They weren’t! While it is true that the Putins and Miniputins of this world lost their mind, this was no self-reflection of Orbán. Our home grown Miniputin told his followers that it’s him only, who hadn’t lost his mind. Instead he told the people that he would be the only solution in a crazy world ►HU.

Poor FIDESZ would be in such a disadvantage, because they are in government. Poor FIDESZ does not abuse everything from state TV to corona mailing lists to push their message, poor FIDESZ does not use the taxpayers’ money for campaigning, and all are against poor FIDESZ. And of course poor FIDESZ has no access to media. Rare that this speech could have been watched at life on TV. As usual. His opponent got 5 minutes on state TV, early in the morning, just before another speech of Orbán was 1st item in the news, only to be repeated in full after the news. Poor FIDESZ!

While ballots with votes for the opposition from voters in Romania are burned, the life of volunteers nominated by Unity for Hungary for watching the count is made extra hard ►HU. Only parties may watch this process in Hungary, it is no right the citizens have. And these people need to be sworn-in. Simple minds would expect that this would happen just before the polling station opens. But no! Volunteers from far away were told to get sworn-in early in the morning of another day. Just to make them travel another time across the country and probably spend another night away from home. A democracy lives through transparency, the system Orbán through exclusion of those who could be an obstacle to fraud.

Apropos fraud. I had a déjà vu! Orbán held his Friday prayer on state radio as usual ►HU and talked about electoral fraud – of the opposition. In 2002, when Orbán has been voted out, he launched special phone lines where people could call about fraud they observed. A few 1000 phone calls arrived, but nothing what even hinted to be fraud, not a single report about giving a sack of potatoes in exchange for a vote. Repeating a lie often enough doesn’t make the lie become true, but people start to believe the lie being truth. And there are still enough FIDESZ voters believing in that lie. Now Orbán triggers the reflex on this old lie among his true believers again. And another orange politician in the USA has success with the same fairy tale. Yes, the world has lost its mind.

Only 3 weeks ago Orbán has determined that parliament had to choose Katalin Novák as our next president. The president is standing by law away from party competition and Novák has protested sharply against the expectation that she will represent FIDESZ, which means Orbán, in the role as head of state. Yesterday the president-elect has proven that she is the spineless puppet of Orbán I described her earlier. She gave an interview to adore the Orbán regime. And how important it will be to vote in favour of Orbán’s pet project, the propaganda referendum about sex change operations of kindergarten kids and abolishing of sex education. But she did not leave out the word by word same message about the elections her boss Orbán has used before ►HU.

In opposite something mindful Péter Márki-Zay had to tell on ATV yesterday evening ►HU. He pointed out to the real problems of this country, not to the invented ones. He said how Unity for Hungary would solve the problems of the people and the state finances, which are not only in terrible state, but also that minister of finance Varga besides admitting has no idea how to solve. I personally am sure that he is afraid to admit more than the fact, the pure amount of debt, the pure amount of deficit is just beyond imagination of the voter, while he very well knows what a further increase of VAT for example would mean. It very much hit my sense of humour when MZP said that Unity for Hungary has a program how to govern, while the only program of FIDESZ would be called Pegasus.

Listening to Orbán’s speech in Székesfehérvár and the comments telex has collected ►HU I am pretty sure that who can vote for such a person definitely has lost his mind. People know exactly the lies Orbán and his propaganda outlets tell, from sending Hungarian soldiers fighting against Putin to ending the use of gas immediately. They know that all has been the fault of USA’s aggression against Russia and poor Putin had to react. The brainwashed world has lost its mind. One of the interviewed women said “Zelensky is a clown and Márki-Zay is the Hungarian Zelensky.” I prefer the words of László Juszt about Zelensky and Orbán: “In this case [of Ukraine] a ‘clown’ became a world-class politician, while in our country a mediocre politician became a very malicious clown”

As I wrote the Fid campaign is horrible, but maybe successful.
A bad joke:
Did he choose Szekesfehervar aka Stuhlweissenburg because his speech corresponds to , the city name??

Despite it having been a pretty crap couple of year, I was feeling pretty upbeat about life in general just a few ago. Covid had become just a background problem and it looked like we’d be able to start travelling again; elections in Hungary and Australia, with a real possibility of change for the better in both. I though I was going to win the trifecta; the first leg being MZP win in Hungary, then a new government in Australia in May and last Parramatta win the football premiership in September.

How quickly things change; my wife had an accident which has put any ideas of travel in the near future back on hold, there’s a $#^%#@ war in Europe and from what I’ve read on HN and elsewhere recently the first leg of my trifecta is likely to fail. Even if MZP has managed to reach and motivate a sizable number of those who don’t usually vote to turn out for the Opposition, the fix might to be great to overcome. Who was it that said, “it’s not how many votes you get, but who counts the votes that matters”.

Apologies for this martyesque post, I really hope I’m wrong …. goog luck tomorrow.
