Excerpts from the March 14 speech by US Ambassador Pressman:

“We cannot ignore it when the Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly asserts that Putin’s war in Ukraine is actually “led by the United States.” We cannot ignore a sitting minister referring to the United States as a corpse whose nails continue to grow.  We can neither understand nor accept the Prime Minister identifying the United States as a “top adversary” of our Ally, Hungary.   Or his assertion that the United States government is trying to overthrow the Hungarian government – literally, to “defeat” him.

Some say we should watch what Hungary does, not what it says. But you see, that is now precisely the problem:  I am not talking merely about what the government says, but what it does, its actions.

The systematic takeover of independent media, where oligarchs purchased media outlets only to gift them to a government-controlled foundation, while the few outlets that remain independent face investigations, tax audits, and the loss of advertising revenue – these are not words, but actions.

Ensuring all aspects of government power – from procurement, to licensing, to tourism subsidies, to concessions, to tax and audit actions, to regulatory policy – provide favorable treatment for companies owned by party leaders or their families, in-laws, or old friends – these are not words, but actions.

The “Defense of Sovereignty Act” that threatens anyone involved in “democratic debate” or “advocacy” in defense – not of Hungary’s sovereignty – but only of a single party’s effort to monopolize public discourse.  Even if not fully implemented, this law’s mere existence serves its purpose – to frighten people into silence.  Not words, but actions.

Equating “independence” with “opposition,” independent media in Hungary gets labeled opposition media.  Independent non-governmental organizations get labeled political partisans.  Independent judges who voice opinions unfavorable to the government, or meet with the American Ambassador, are labeled politicians funded and directed from abroad.    ” […]

“At the same time Hungarian officials diminish an actual invasion of a democratic country [Ukraine], senior Hungarian officials conjure stories of interference in Hungary’s own internal affairs.  Yet they seem to have no qualms about flagrantly engaging in such interference themselves.

Prime Minister Orbán, who on the one hand baselessly claims the United States government is trying to overthrow his government, publicly calls for the political defeat of the President of the United States and actively participates in U.S. partisan political events.  Hungary advocates for electoral candidates around the world from Poland to Brazil, all while decrying foreign interference here at home.

Who leads the United States Government – or any government — is a question for the people of that country alone to decide.   ” […]

“While Hungary attempts to wait out those it disagrees with, whether in the United States or the European Union, the rest of the world is moving forward.  While the Orbán government may want to wait out the United States Government, the United States will certainly not wait out the Orbán administration.

While Hungary waits, we will act. “

Pressman is using more words than Biden in his speech, but states the same as Biden in his SOTU, the Viktor is a dictator. His control over the Hungarian people is obviously bigger than the führer’s control over the German people. Because of the advances in technique, he just doesn’t need to fly everywhere by plane TikTok and Instagram and company do it more perfect now. The media is the same as under the führer. Control everywhere is guaranteed by making the people afraid to have serious disadvantages if they do not comply to rule number one: vote for the Viktor, or it has consequences.
He just didn’t kill anyone by order, and the Viktor knows that this would cost him all support from the west. The only friends he then has are his buddies Putin and Chi, who like to kill political opponents.

This report on Hungary appears to be the most current one (https://www.state.gov/reports/2022-country-reports-on-human-rights-practices/hungary). It states “According to its constitution, Hungary is a multiparty parliamentary democracy.” It goes on to say, “For the past three years, however, Hungary has been operating under consecutive states of emergency that allow the government to pass laws by edict, bypassing parliament, which elects the president (the head of state) every five years. . . In parliamentary elections on April 3, the Fidesz-Christian Democratic People’s Party alliance led by Fidesz party leader Viktor Orban won a two-thirds majority in parliament.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe election observation mission found that the elections “were well-administered and professionally managed but marred by the absence of a level playing field” and concluded that a “pervasive overlap between the ruling coalition and the government blurred the line between the state and party.”

That is not a happy endorsement of Hungarian democracy, but it’s not a designation of a dictatorship either. President Biden may be correct that Orban prefers a dictatorship to a more democratic system but Orban is shrewd enough not to say that publicly as President Biden indicated.

Hungary doesn’t have a constitution, only a basic law written on a train between Budapest and Brussels and vice versa on an ipad. 2011 The law was “written in stone”, and has been amended around 80 times since.
Do you know what is going on here?? You are citing the Nemzet and wonder why they pick a certain part of Pressman’s speech. Well they want to make him ridiculous, worrying about licence plates. And they leave out the important topics. Do you get it??
Using the Nemzet to analyze the regime is ridiculous.
About your citation of the report, I guess the elections in Russia will be described as:  “were well-administered and professionally managed but marred by the absence of a level playing field”,
doesn’t that really ring a bell?
It is just a fact that the Viktor is a fascist and a dictator, deeds speak for itself, no matter what your opinion is. And you do not seem to read my posts, even when you react on them. Deflecting to old time democrats, Biden speaking without thinking and sense, the points why the Viktor is a fascist, no substantial reaction. And the one thing I will never forget in my life: blaming the democrats for Trumps victory in 2016. Really, I am fine if you disagree with my opinions, but don’t hide behind some reports or people who wrote something that is clever in your opinion.

I was at the demonstrations. Peter Magyar’s attracted more people (estimates were 50 thousand) then Karacsony’s. I agreed with most of M’s demand, especially taking anti-corruption steps. But I did not like his condemnation of those opposition politicians who lobby against the EU money flowing to “Hungary” (i.e. to the Orban government.).

He is about to launch his own party. He has a good chance to get a seat in the European Parliament in June, so he can go back and live in Brussels.

Noble goals indeed.
I do not trust him, but that is not relevant if he is honest.
Point 8 from his 12 points is reflecting that he is using the same language as the regime actors, “constructive dialogue” translated to asking for respect. And then creating an attack on Hungarian sovereignty which has to be defended.
He will get a seat but not my vote.

Reminded me of Kadar: “Our Communism is Hungarian. It is a sort of “third line.””

MP’s 12 points goals are ALL just a sort of “”Best Of” of points brought forward by the real opposition parties.
In short MP is Bullshitting, and seems to be invented, ordered and organised by the myghti lidur’s propaganda [intelligence services] team to disrupt the real opposition in preparation to the coming elections.

I understand Trump. As a wannabe dictator, he loves accomplished dictators like Putin, Erdogan, Orban. (He might be financially beholden to Putin as well).

But I do not understand the Biden-Obama administrations.
(March 13, 2024)
“The Biden administration on Wednesday reapproved a sanctions waiver that unlocks upwards of $10 billion in frozen funds for the Iranian government, according to a copy of the notice submitted to Congress late Wednesday”
In Iran, 3/4 of the people want to get rid of the bloody regime of the ayatollahs,
but the Biden (and earlier the Obama) administration wants to make deals with them and financially supports them. (This is a little bit akin to the EU financial support to the Orban regime).

The deal as I recall was made a while ago and possibly included a certain number of US citizens released by Iran over a period of time. There were references to that in news early on in the Biden administration.

Currently there are many questions being raised in the USA about Israeli claims on the scope rape and murder of Israeli civilians in particular by the Washington Post and the progressive news outlet the Intercept.

Even The NY Times articles on rape and October 7. There have been a discussion that has been painful for me personally because the NY Times editor overseeing the story Jeff Gettleman is a liberal who is not a Zionist in the least and who as a reporter in the past wrote seriously about torture and abuse by US forces in our Middle Eastern wars.

Jeff is the child of a business associate of mine and I think highly of him. But he seems to have not carefully vetted the reporters work on the rape cases opening himself up to attacks. Now there is growing support not just among Palestinians but many people of color in the USA that many of the October 7 claims made by Benjamin Netanyahu are falsified but even the UN agrees there was sexual violence against Jews on October 7.

I am expecting there to be significant anti-Biden demonstrations over US funding to Israel during the Democratic National Comvention Convention this summer to be held here in Chicago.

The site of the convention will be under special protection by the US secret service and FBI due to in being declared a National Special Security Event. The Chicago Police will be in the frontlines of the defense of the convention and their riot control history has not been outstanding going back to 1968.

Hi Istvan (Chicago),

There is an avalanche of lies against Israel since October 2023.

CNN and other US news outlets accept the daily casualty figures of the Hamas propaganda department (“Gaza health ministry”) without questioning.
The videos inside Gaza are mostly made by the Qatari Al-Jazeera network and distributed to the US media.

The newest lie is that Israel starves the Gazans.

In fact, more trucks with food enter Gaza than before the war. (+ air drops + now shiploads)

It took me four hours, but here is what I mined from UN’s own statistics.

The UN statistical data cover exactly 200 months,
[June 2007, January 2024]. In 196 out of 200 months, fewer trucks carrying food entered Gaza than in January 2024.

Just before the war, in September 2023, 2199 trucks carrying food entered Gaza from Israel.
In January 2024, this number was 2959.

If you add food, medical supplies, hygienic and cleaning supplies together this was the average daily truckload .

2023: 82 (through September)
2022: 79
2021: 84
2020: 85
2019: 76
2018: 76
2017: 70
2016: 68
2015: 58
2014: 65
2013: 58
2012: 53
2011: 56
2010: 59
2009: 64
2008: 44
2007: 44 (from June)

The number of trucks since January 2024:

[March 08, March 14]:      164 trucks/day
[March 01, March 07]:      165 trucks/day
[February 23, February 29]:    111 trucks/day
[February 16, February 22]:    90 trucks/day
[February 09, February 15]:    47 trucks/day
[February 02, February 08]:    133 trucks/day
[January 26, February 01]:    136 trucks/day
[January 19, January 25]:    156 trucks/day
[January 12, January 18]:    156 trucks/day
[January 05, January 11]:    145 trucks/day

As you can see, there was only one week in 2024, when fewer trucks entered Gaza than before the war.

Most other trucks entering Gaza before the war contained “construction materials”, I guess mostly for the tunnels.

tappanch if your numbers are correct and “In fact, more trucks with food enter Gaza than before the war. ” Why are several nations including D and NL dropping aid packages over GAZA? Why don’t you see any trucks or at least one on the streets of GAZA from the drop height? The news we see in D is not produced by “Qatari Al-Jazeera network”. Are they all lying too? What should be the logic for D? Why are the Jews demonstrating against the Israeli government is that also a lie directly from Israel by German reporters?

“Most other trucks entering Gaza before the war contained “construction materials”, I guess mostly for the tunnels.” Your guess – What kind of shit is that?

There are only a few thousand Israeli troops inside Gaza, they do not have the capacity to hand out the food. That is a strategic mistake on the part of the Israeli military leadership.

There is a distribution problem inside Gaza. The food enters Gaza. Hamas and other gunmen steal some of the food right away.

———–
Let us see the last full year, 2022. The number of trucks carrying

Human food products: 26554 trucks.

Construction + Construction materials: 53694 trucks.

Construction = 2* Food

First nine months of 2023:

Human food products: 20562 trucks.

Construction + Construction materials: 45254 trucks.

Construction > 2* Food

——–

The Biden administration wants quiet before the November election. Hamas will be resupplied by then.

Yes, there is now a concerted Biden-Qatar lying campaign against Israel !

I am not paranoid,
my statement is based on facts, and I voted for Biden in 2020.

Israel’s casualties
(my calculation comes from Israeli sources)

October 7: about 900 civilian dead, ???? injured, ???? raped.

military casualties:
[October 7-26 (before the ground war),
but mostly on October 7 & 8 +
ground war, i.e. October 27 to March 16]

[ 343 + 249] killed;

[ 174 + 310] seriously wounded;
[ 323 + 491] moderately wounded;
[1102 + 679] lightly wounded.

In February, Israel withdrew all of its reservists, i.e. most of its troops from Gaza, the rhetoric notwithstanding.

The 900 Israeli civilians is equivalent to 30,000 dead US civilians. October 7 was ten times as large for Israel as September 11 was for the US.

And the US did not get 15 thousand incoming enemy missiles.

Osama bin Laden was 7,000 miles from the US.

Rafakh is just 2 miles from Israel with the remaining 20,000 armed Hamas men.

Two writers for the AP news service and also the National Catholic Reporter see the evolution of the relationship between Orban and Pope Francis as being fairly complex. They are Nicole Winfield and Justin Spike, and this article https://www.ncronline.org/vatican/vatican-news/vatican-diplomats-seek-defuse-outrage-over-pope-francis-ukraine-white-flag was also interesting.

The statement from Francis on the EU and Hungary is very similar to criticism of the EU’s secular nature Francis has exhibited before. This actually is reflected a division in US Catholic Church on the separation of church and state. Because while the non establishment clause in the US constitution helped Catholic immigrants like my own family to the USA have their institutions in the majority Protestant nation it still creates problems for Catholic doctrine.

This survey https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2021/10/28/in-u-s-far-more-support-than-oppose-separation-of-church-and-state/ shows the enduring support for separation of church and state in the USA even for Catholics.

The current position of the Church in the USA can be read here https://www.usccb.org/committees/religious-liberty/first-freedom-blog-separation-church-and-state. To be honest it’s not fully consistent with some things Francis has said.

US practicing Catholics are on the whole more liberal than the Church too.

We have already written about this, I have nothing against the faith, but every church without exception abuses the faith. Popes lie and interfere in things that have nothing to do with the faith … including the priests, of course. Például Balog!

I understood your post very well only the abuse of the church goes much further than sexual abuse. Why do you think you have to confess, it wasn’t a requirement in the old testament. The church only added it to exercise its power over the faithful. The church has invented many tools that are irrelevant to faith – if you know the Bible, think about it. Purgatory – who is it supposed to serve … do you think a few judges will sit there and watch you for a few thousand years and then free you or send you to the devil? Did Jesus ever talk about that?

In Germany, the church’s possessions are huge and the worldly punishments are tiny. The priests can sexually abuse every single child and wouldn’t go broke if they were convicted.

Ursula released 10.2 billion euros to Orban last December because the “Council of Judges” were given more power.

But the new chairman of the Council wants to work “constructively” with the Orban government and the Orban-appointed judicial heads.

“Ha egyetlen szóval kellene jellemeznem a 2018-ban alakult OBT tevékenységét, magam is a harciasságot említeném. Hat év múlva, a mandátumunk lejárta után nem szeretném, ha mi is harcias testületként, de azt sem, ha egy lojális társaságként maradnánk meg az emberek emlékezetében. Leginkább annak örülnék, ha a konstruktivitás jellemezné a mostani OBT-t.”

‘If I had to describe the activities of the previous Council (established in 2018) in one word, I would mention its militancy myself. Six years from now, after the end of our mandate, I don’t want us to be remembered neither as a militant body, nor as a loyal company. I would be most happy if the current Council were characterized by its constructive attitude.’

Responding to Don on sexual abuse and apparently corruption within the Catholic Church. Yes it’s true the Vatican financial scandals are well known and are covered in the Catholic media in the USA.

Most liberal Catholics who are University educated are aware of those scandals. But the truth is most Catholics here are born into the faith and converts are pretty rare.

It’s even more so in Esztergom where most parishes there are collections of family groupings even in graveyards. One can look at it as a cult as you do Don or as a community as many American Catholics do.

I had occasion in the last year to attend mass at a Catholic mission Church in New Mexico at Mission San Esteban del Rey de Acoma which was built in 1640 on the top of a mesa for native people. Those enslaved Pueblo Indians actually revolted against the Spanish and were slaughtered in mass including a Catholic friar who supported the revolt who was burned alive.

My wife who is one quarter Native American by birth and is a member of the Seneca tribe from New York State but raised as a Methodist was deeply moved by the story. Catholicism is many things to many people including those Pueblo Indians who honor their Spanish friar from hundreds of years ago who revolted both against his King and the Catholic Church. Pope Francis has now proposed that friar‘s veneration. He has also asked native people for forgiveness for the crimes of the Church against them.

All right, I am taking the bait… 🙂

“The IDF eliminated overnight Monday the head of the Operations Directorate of Hamas’ Internal Security, Faiq Mabhouh.”

“Mabhouh was hiding in a compound at Shifa, from which he operated and advanced terrorist activity. He was in charge, among other things, of coordinating the Hamas mechanisms in the Gaza Strip”

https://www.israelhayom.com/2024/03/18/idf-eliminates-hamas-internal-security-commander/

“IDF says some 300 terror suspects have been detained during the ongoing operation at Gaza City’s Shifa Hospital.According to the IDF, among the detainees are “dozens of prominent terrorists” in the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups.

The captured operatives are allegedly involved in directing terror attacks in the West Bank, and include members of Hamas’s propaganda unit and members of Islamic Jihad’s rocket unit”

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/idf-says-more-than-300-terror-suspects-detained-in-shifa-hospital/

In the hours-long firefight, two Israeli soldiers and 30 or 50 [two different sources] Hamas members were killed.

Her crime: she was a lawyer defending the rights of other Palestinians hostages, known as “administrative detainees” by Israel. Ayesh is one of at least 3,484 Palestinians taken hostage by the state of Israel. I use the word hostage because Diala Ayesh was not told why she was taken. She has not been charged w/anything. Her imprisonment is renewable, indefinitely. And she was taken, like many other Palestinians, to be used as a bargaining chip in hostage negotiations. If you are calling for the release of the hostages, but only the Israeli hostages, not the Palestinian hostages, you are contributing to the dehumanization of the Palestinian people. #BringThemHome source of the count of hostages taken by Israel: https://middleeastmonitor.com/20240316-israe

Torture and other ill-treatment

Israeli security forces continued to torture and ill-treat Palestinian detainees. As in previous years, the police’s internal investigation unit (Mahash) did not thoroughly investigate complaints of torture. On November 24, 2022, the district court in Be’er Sheva extended Ahmad Manasra’s solitary confinement for another four months. He had been imprisoned as a 13-year-old in 2015 and had been held in solitary confinement in isolated conditions since November 2021, which amounted to torture. In September, the same court rejected his application for early release on medical grounds, even though he had developed a serious mental illness while in detention.

#1
The legal basis of the “administrative detention” originates in the British legal system. It is applied to West Bank Jews as well.

#2
The US law also accepts it. See Guantanamo.

#3
So Ms Diala Ayesh was in detention for two months.

Hungary is not at war.
But in Hungary people can be held in detention (“előzetes letartóztatás“) for up to four years on the basis of “strong suspicion” (alapos gyanú).

The Idus Martiae today is a metaphor used in art for impending doom, originally referring to the assassination of Gaius Iulius Caesar on March 15 of that year.

Our Kaesar is carried on the hands from his fellows. Also … but on another 15th, 250,000 Austrians celebrate and cheer Hitler on Heldenplatz in Vienna. They celebrated the annexation of Austria to the German Reich. Any Hungarian freedom fighters would be eliminated by Kaesar today.

Today Magyar Nemzet ran a story about President Biden’s confusion when speaking extemporaneously https://magyarnemzet.hu/kulfold/2024/03/trumpot-vadolva-bizonyitotta-alkalmatlansagat-biden.

It is true and sadly Biden’s speech writers can’t get the President to stop going off script. Trump babels endlessly using no script at all, which of course Magyar Nemzet does not discuss.

It’s really a sad situation.

A sad situation it is indeed – BUT – Since Trump is an old borderline narcissistic psychotic, drifting on the winds of popularity with no capacity to learn, Biden – old and over ripe – has enough grounding to retain the capacity to weigh advice and decide .
in accordance to that.
Really, the lack of qualified succession in the US political leadership is the basic problem the US has to deal with, as voters and citizens.
A democracy doesn’t get the leaders it really needs, unless people support them.
Biden represents a long tradition of stability.
Trump represents instability.

And so, we (in Europe) recognize that the US is knee deep in a state of national identity confusion.
That is the single thing people like Orbán address.
They appeal to the white-Christian supremacy, and don’t acknowledge the plural reality, encouraging whites to take power and end democracy.
Of course, Trump sucks that up, seeing himself on Mount Rushmore – not unlike our aquaintances in Russia and China.

By the way, the carnage in Gaza refects very badly on Trump, given his pro-white attitudes in favor of Israeli (over)retaliatory politics and obvious administrative colonialism.
When that isn’t a call for restraint among his supporters, there is little basis for American self respect, as an international player.

#1
After peace, the future Gaza beach front hotels should be owned by the Gazans to improve their standard of living from tourism.

If civilians move to a non-fighting area, they are less likely to be killed during the fighting.

Neither Kushner, nor the Israeli government want to empty Gaza permanently.

tappanch

Kushner is not unhinged. Watch the video.

The civilian population of Gaza should be moved out while the Israeli army is destroying the Hamas military.

Then they can move back, unharmed.

It should be Egypt’s international obligation to take in the refugees from the war.

But if they do not want to accept their fellow Arabs, then Israel should move them out into the Negev in Israel (temporarily!) while there are fights in Gaza to protect the lives of the Gaza civilians.

Orban’s Fidesz family club is digging itself deeper into the muddy ground whose depth has not yet been reached. Violence against women is part and parcel of the good manners of white Catholic men, but it is not the order of the day. Normally the women trip over the dog and fall unhappily into a fist. The report quoted Orban as stating: They (European NATO supporters) are in a spiral of war, which results in more and more serious things. ”  The article indicated that Orban pointed out that they (NATO supporters) are now talking about the fact that soldiers should also be stationed on the territory of Ukraine.

Data from Nazis like Israel or Hungary are irrelevant because they are falsified. It may be that the data from the victims is not correct either. But the point is that the governments falsify because of their propaganda, and the Hungarians have been cultivating this tradition for over 150 years. “Trau schau wem” is an old saying to avoid falling for it yourself.

My calculation: 1 truck is about 20 tons = 20,000 kilograms.

that is about 10 kg/Gazan

One thing I think we can be sure of, is that Putin will use this opportunity to fine-tune all possible control-parameters.
There isn’t much he can do about Islamistic terror in Russia and against Russian interests, except to be prepared.
It would serve the Ukrainian side well, if a new and “invisible” front opened in Russia.
My best guess is that the Russian, North African campaign backfires and now lands bombs in Putin’s lap.
It has often been said that underestimating an adversary opens for defeat, and (knowing Russian world view) that may well be the case now.

They are not stupid at all, by any means.
Terrorists don’t represent a state or an established military power, as such.
We are talking about trained and armed civilians in militant networks and faith-based circles, who operate in civilian environments
The only weapon at their disposal is surprise, inciting fear and threatening the order of peaceful civilian life.
Suicide missions are the ultimate expressions of terror, but well planned attacks also have great effect.
The terror of Bader-Meinhof and Rote Armé in Germany are class examples. PLO too.
Of course, the terrorism has evolved a lot from there.

Bader-Meinhof were not typical terrorists, they fought against the omnipotence of the German state. They even had many sympathizers among the German people. After the Second World War, the old Nazis were reinstated in office because they could not be replaced as easily as judges, public prosecutors or major industrialists. That’s why the legal system and individuals were targeted by the organization. In Russia, with the war in Ukraine, the situation is different. However, if you need an alibi to crack down, a club would be enough, but not for real “political” goals. To really damage a state like Russia, it would have to hurt financially. The World Trade Center was a symbol of the tallest buildings and the center of the financial sector. So a gas pipeline to China or the power supply to a major city or the decimation of military equipment on the Crimea or similar would be a target for real terrorists.

There are states that use the threat posed by global terrorist groups as an excuse to denigrate dissenters as terrorists, to suppress them with the approval of external actors and to restrict the work of the peaceful opposition. Some of these states incite terrorist attacks in order to legitimize their goals from the population. You don’t have to feel sorry that this possibility exists. 🙂

This reminds me of the March 11, 2004 terror attack at the Atocha train station in Madrid (193 dead)

The ruling PP immediately blamed, falsely, the Basque ETA to get political points. But the truth came out: The terrorists were “local cells of Islamic extremists” of Moroccan origin.

You read that right; Israel is deporting 20 Palestinian children with cancer who were treated in East Jerusalem (Palestinian territory illegally occupied by Israel) to Gaza, where there is nothing but Israeli bombs, hunger and suffering. Especially no cancer treatment. They are sent to their deaths. This is reported by the newspaper Yediut Ahranot. And not a single German media outlet mentions it. What else has to happen for

I am bored with the lies and less-than-half truths you pick up from Islamist twitter accounts.

#1
Even Hamas Supreme leader Haniyeh’s sister gets free health care in Israel.

https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-785314

#2
These cancer patients are Gazans. They still received health care in Israel (as many Gazans did in the last 18 years).

Their treatment was finished between October 7, 2023 and February 2024 They were supposed to go back to Gaza. But on March 21, 2024, the Israeli Supreme court blocked their return to Gaza because of the war.

#3
East Jerusalem has NEVER been “Palestinian territory”.
It was Jordanian between 1948 and 1967. Israel took it in a defensive war in 1967.

Jordan gave up its claim to East Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1988.

@ tappanch I’m sorry that our host is bored with “my” lies, because a lie doesn’t even have a tiny amount of truth and can’t compete with half-truths. I myself hate lies and I hate liars even more – but the “information” I have published here is from a journalist’s account who has never been proven to have spread lies or half-truths or quarter-truths.

I have been writing for 15 years now and have been able to trust my sources. You have the option to delete comments according to your personal taste, which you make good use of. In my opinion, this is a strong distortion of the situation. In the last 15 years it has only happened very rarely that one of my comments was deleted, once by Dr. Prof. Balog, a comment that was supposed to warn against Boris Kálnoky, who had been praised as an independent journalist as on Eva’s blog but had worked for Orban’s ruling party. He wrote on a blog called Hungarian Voice but was clearly anti-democratic and politically right-wing in order to discredit “Western” free reporting on Hungary as lies. It took her a few more months to realize that Boris was not who she thought he was.

Of course I can see that Palestinian children who are completely healthy today have no business in Israel and that they should be allowed to return to a free and prosperous Palestine as soon as they have recovered. I myself am suffering from cancer and my doctors predict that I am incurable, but of course I cannot stay in hospital after my medication, just as the Palestinian children must return to Palestine. Forgive my exuberant but mendacious humanity and that I can’t blow the same horn as Israel. I am sorry because there is nothing wrong with their massacre of people who are all liars or half-truths. They are fellow sufferers like the Jews and Roma and other unworthy life back then not to forget the dissenters of which I am one.

Feel free to delete me so that I don’t bore you to death my soul would torture itself with this guilt … a bit like the yoke Chicagoisti has to bear when he wakes up in a cold sweat from his nightmares.

Oh those Palestinian kids Don in Gaza who are being traumatized will become potential mass murders of Jews because of their experiences. Just like the unfortunate Jewish kids who survived the murders of their families in Kibbutz Be’eri near the Gaza border could potentially become mass murders of Palestinians in the future. Of course the reverse is likely true of Palestinian kids who had family killed by IDF bombings.

In the Vietnamese town of An Loc where I was trapped in 1972 with South Vietnamese forces not far from the Cambodian border we had civilian children trapped under bombardment for over 60 days.

I had been trained as an adviser and knew basic Vietnamese. My artillery command center where I and Vietnamese officers targeted our artillery fire was a farmhouse with a whole family with kids hiding in a small basement below us (called a hầm gốc). Those kids survived as did their parents.

In 1993 I went back to An Loc as part of a tour of reconciliation and met the family again and one of the members of the family who had been a child during war told me very quietly in Vietnamese that their father had sent to a re-education camp in 1975 for having been a local government official and he died in about 1985 after being released.

His life had not been great but he had a technical education and they still had a house for their family. What happens to children in war is not pretty, but these kids
grow up very confused and need serious therapy which is rarely provided. It’s a horror really.

“How the Gaza Ministry of Health Fakes Casualty Numbers”
A Professor of Statistics and Data Science at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania proves that the Hamas (“Gaza Health Ministry”) daily casualty numbers are completely fake.

These fake numbers have been accepted, without questioning their validity, by the news organizations and by President Biden in his State of the Union.

These propaganda numbers are used by politicians all over the world to accuse Israel of war crimes, genocide against the Gaza civilians.

The title of professor does not mean that the person holding the title is telling any truth. The test from far away Pennsylvania that some numbers correspond to reality in GAZA that you can blindly believe is completely naive. I don’t understand why Israel deliberately kills journalists and doesn’t want to investigate the perpetrators, but I do understand why no independent journalists report from GAZA. That Israel does not allow independent journalists can only mean that crimes and atrocities should be concealed. I believe the Israelies as much as Putin.

Why did the American secret service know since March 7th ? that an attack was allegedly planned in Russia and warned its own people and Putin allegedly knew nothing. Or he knew something and didn’t care. That would be unlikely. What does IS have to do with the attack, why is it active now and why in Russia? If IS wants to spread terror, there are many more possibilities in the West. If the Ukraine had been behind it, they would have looked for a different target, ships bridges refineries arms factories and the like, and not a club in Moscow.

Very likely, the Russians had the same intelligence, but later percieved the risk as being lower.
Typical for authoritarian states, they exercise higher levels of control and lower levels of actual civil protection.
Perhaps the Russian focus on the war in Ukraine allowed the terrorists just enough invisibility for successfully planning, preparing and executing the attack and escape.

“Jewish kids who survived the murders of their families in Kibbutz Be’eri near the Gaza border could potentially become mass murders of Palestinians in the future.”

The history of the past 75 years does not support your prediction.

Palestinian Arabs killed about 4,700 Israeli civilians in more than a 1000 terror attacks (1949-2023)

I can recall only 2 cases in the same period when Jewish civilians committed mass murders against Arabs.

#1 1994: Baruch Goldstein killed 29 Muslims in Hebron.
He was lynched on the spot.
#2 2005: Eden Natan-Zada killed 4 Israeli Arabs in Shefa-Amr. He was lynched on the spot.

Obviously tappanch is a nationalist Israeli who is convinced that if you don’t shout kill the Palestinians you are an anti-Semite.

In Nazi Germany it would have been good if several people had resisted this call to kill the Jews, but they would have been gassed along with the Jews, Roma, gays, dissidents, supposedly unworthy life (very simple minded people) and the disabled. But this logic is apparently too high for Israelis, many of whom condemn all those who do not stoically want to kill palestinians as anti-Semites. I have not yet read an answer to your question “I do not understand why you deleted the answer from Don on my post “, have you?

What I find even more curious is the reference to Mountainous Karabakh. Hää I only started the discussion about Israel GAZA here on the blog because tappanch made one-sided, unfair comments against Humanism, what kind of shit is that, like the Nazis back then. Any further discussion against humanity in Hungary is therefore
obsolete or rather untrustworthy.

I do not know how IPC calculated, or whether they just assigned political rankings.

UN’s own numbers show that the number of trucks entering Gaza with food is not less than before the war.

Exception:
October, November 2023 and 1 week in February.2024.

UN official data:
all trucks entering Gaza
through Kerem Shalom or (Nitzana-Rafah),
average # of trucks/day:

2024:
[March 15, March 21]:      153
[March 08, March 14]:        164
[March 01, March 07]:        165

[February 23, February 29]:      111
[February 16, February 22]:     90
[February 09, February 15]:     47
[February 02, February 08]:      133

[January 26, February 01]:      136
[January 19, January 25]:      156
[January 12, January 18]:      156
[January 05, January 11]:      145

of which trucks/day carrying “Human Food Products”

2024-02: no UN data calculated yet
2024-01: 95 = 2959/31
2023-12: 71 = 2216/31
2023-11: 58 = 1737/30

2023: 75 = 20562/273 (through September)
2022: 73 = 26554/365
2021: 77 = 27937/365
2020: 78 = 28657/366
2019: 68 = 24685/365
2018: 68 = 24793/365
2017: 66 = 23952/365
2016: 64 = 23265/366

Here a statement from the Inter-Agency Standing Committee a UN agency.
Statement by Principals of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee – Civilians in Gaza in extreme peril while the world watches on: Ten requirements to avoid an even worse catastrophe | IASC (interagencystandingcommittee.org)
Maybe the reason why the Palestinians are in extreme trouble also has to do with the merciless use of military supremacy.
When this chapter of the old conflict is over, nothing is left from the infrastructure and housing of Gaza.
Of course this also includes tunnels which are the excuse for the destruction.
I do despise hamas, but not all Palestinians are hamas.

As opposed to Israel on Gaza, the Azeri dictator put a real, a complete blockade on Artzakh (Mountainous Karabakh) for nine months,
from December 2022 through September 2023.

Then his troops quickly occupied Artzakh.
100% of the population (Armenians) fled.

Where was the outrage of the world?

All right, Erdogan and the 50+ fellow Muslim countries (and Orban) love Aliyev.and the victory of Islam over Christian people.

I agree that there is hypocrisy in where the outrage is about. There was journalism about the occupation of Azerbaijan.
Defeated by force, self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh declares it will dissolve – The Washington Post
Azerbaijan halts Karabakh offensive after ceasefire deal with Armenian separatists (bbc.com)
This didn’t trigger a big outrage. Maybe it also has to do with the fact that Israels conflict with most of the Islam countries is seen as a more potent danger for destabilization of the world order.
And the numbers of the victims are not comparable.

I think it is possible to discuss on a mature way. That means for everybody writing here to avoid the  argument from incredulity. If you just don’t believe an argument or statistic, you can not conclude the argument or statistic is false. Just waiving away facts that don’t fit your theory or viewpoint and not dealing with these facts on a realistic way doesn’t help.
Since some of us are using the third Reich as an example, the Germans are an example of a nation that really reflected the history of that time. Unlike for example the Austrians, or the Hungarian regime.
This didn’t happen immediately after WW2 where the ex NSDAP members were still in charge, because they only had ex NSDAP members to fill positions. The big majority of the Germans is disgusted by what happened during the Holocaust, but there are also the “Ewiggestrigen”. One can not discuss with these people, and I think nobody of the contributors is like that.
