“The US has new intelligence on Russian military capabilities related to its efforts to deploy a nuclear anti-satellite system in space, according to multiple sources familiar with the intelligence.”

“an anti-satellite weapon placed in orbit around Earth would pose a significant danger to US nuclear command and control satellites […] The US relies on such satellites – which he called “essential” – to ensure constant, seamless control over its nuclear arsenal.”

One thought is that if you shoot down a satellite then the debris will cause a chain reaction, or not. Sooner or later all satellites would be affected.

„Fact: despite the pro-family policies, the number of births in Hungary reached a new low in 2023, with only 8.9 births per 1000 people (orange line)“

Fact is that Hungarian policy is not pro-family but anti-Roma families. One of many laws that discriminate against Roma. But it doesn’t bother a single white Hungarian.

Have I already told you that I used to give my opinion in a mixed racist Hungarian German-language blog? There were always the same reactions when untrue claims were refuted. “You wouldn’t understand that because it’s all so complicated”. Racism and other oppression is not complicated.

I remember when Balog was appointed Secretary of State for Roma Affairs in Hungary, his Fidesz colleagues expressed their sorry for him. 😀 They probably knew what it meant for Balog. When he later said in an interview, “Only after a real catharsis [of the Roma] can we talk rationally about trying to find a solution.” That was in 2012. Surely you know the Kallia report that proves official racism. Or do you know Karácsony, who said in his defense that racism against Roma is a kind of Hungarian culture. All forgotten again reader or never knew? Anyone who is interested in Hungarian politics knows this. 🙂

Yes, I agree and am only too awareof the deeply rooted culture of racism that must be called out wherever and whenever. However, that is not the point that I was addressing. You cannot find evidence for your statement above on which I challenged you simply because it is not true!
The problem with making absurd claims as identified over the last few days is that, apart from being wrong, they discredit the blog. That is a great pity as Hungarian News has an honourable tradition of critical analysis and comment which is only undermined by silly tabloid-style statements.
The point has been made now and this is becoming tiresome. Let’s move on.

You : „However, that is not the point that I was addressing.” ? 😀 “You cannot find evidence for your statement above on which I challenged you simply because it is not true!”

You can read PL’s interview with Balog in Pest Lloyd. The parliamentary ombudsman for minorities, Dr. Ernö Kallai, teacher, sociologist, Catholic, long active at the Gandhi High School in Pécs, uses the example of Gyöngyöspata, but also Érpatak and other places to clearly demonstrate: there is an intensified segregation of Roma schoolchildren, the public employment program is implemented “against human dignity”. Residents are subject to horrendous fines for the smallest offenses, without the basic right to a legal hearing. Other basic rights are simply ignored; the aim seems to be eviction. In addition, the work of the ombudsman, who has a parliamentary mandate, has been obstructed; the mayor of Gyöngyöspata has had him turned away several times.

These are just a few examples, there are many more, such as the list of Jews of parliamentarians and so on and so forth.

Everything is very easy to understand and in no way complicated.

It’s all over the Western media:
Alexej Nawalny died in the Gulag in Siberia.
His death was already written about by the EU president, the German chancellor, the British foreign minister etc.
His widow spoke at the conference in Munich.
Now it will be interesting to see whether and how Fidesz media in Orbanistan will report on this – and whether any Fidesz politicians will open their mouths …

Alexei Navalny really had courage. If he hadn’t returned to Russia, he would have been shot, poisoned or thrown out of the window. An insider said that there are virtually no prisons, only those on remand can be found there. The convicts are sent to the gulag and from there many go to the front.

This is consistent with what I have heard so far “he collapsed and died in the morning”. I don’t believe it was a natural death. Maybe it’s a reaction to Trump’s comments about telling Putin to do what he wants. ?

Yesterday, Aleksey Navalny spoke in court via video link. He seemed to be in good health and and even joked.

Fidesz wrote up the past on the flags, Horthy – National Socialism – women who like to give birth , ergo forward to the past, when people were satisfied with inferior food because many had nothing. Who went to school back then and when someone died then it was the emaciation. Back then you could still buy a mud house with two oxen and the teacher didn’t know much more than the pupil, Orban’s paradise. Where a sack of potatoes is everything. Is there already a translation of Orban’s speech on Saturday? I read that Orban said with reference to the pardon affair:

“You always have to be aware that even the greatest boxers like Muhammad Ali can be knocked down with one punch. It is therefore important to always stay on guard and preferably attack with a straight punch before being hit yourself. He added the biblical quote that “giving is better than receiving” to the sporting metaphor.

Fidesz abandons its boycott of Sweden’s ratification of NATO membership. There is speculation about a possible arms deal that is said to have been negotiated in the background between the two governments. Hungarian media close to the government reported that Hungary is likely to receive four Gripen fighter planes from Sweden. Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will travel to Budapest on Friday for talks with Orbán. These are “almost” Orbán’s private fighter planes.

Orban’s friend, the right-wing nationalist Netanyahu, is massacring the Palestinians in Gaza, who are locked up in a camp. Four times already the Palestinians were supposed to go somewhere else so that Israel could bomb them with its heaviest weapons. Now they can enjoy exterminating the crammed people, who government officials publicly denigrate as animals that must be killed. Europe and the USA are guilty. Biden’s policy of supplying weapons for the massacre rivals the EU’s servility to Israel. All of Israel’s claims lack independent investigation. I personally believe with the tunnels under hospitals and schools, as well as all are guilty not a word. Back to Orban Kft. his wet dreams revolve around the annexation of lost territories outside the current borders back into the empire. How can he condemn Israel?

„Despite pressure from other capitals, Budapest has refused to agree to the demand for a ceasefire in Gaza, thereby also scuppering EU plans for collective sanctions against violent Israeli settlers. The proposals were first put forward in December following a new wave of attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank.“

Of course the pensioners would prefer a raise but Hungary can’t afford this obviously because they need the money for the Fidesz honchos, their luxury cars, yachts and castles and of course some gangbangs in Brussels …

Peace march in Bicske with torches from Fidesz sympathizers. I know torchlight marches from the KKK or from the Nazi SS and SA, but these were not peace marches. One problem is probably getting bigger and bigger to make the lies look conclusive.

The way that democratic values are manipulated (or just ignored …) in Hungary is fantastic!
The Economist Intelligence Unit has this report on the classification of states as democratic/partially democratic and so on – Hungary has place 50 in their ranking – as usual one of the lowest of EU states.

The official monthly salary of Orban is $18,000.
The salary of Biden is $33,300.

While Orban earns 54% of the salary of the US president, the population of Hungary is less than 2.8% of the US population, while the Hungarian GDP is only 0.7% of the US number.

I seem to remember Orban’s first tax return when he declared a Trabant as an asset … or was it a one-room apartment. But if Orban flies to a soccer game with friends to somewhere else in a military plane, that’s a lot more expensive than $18,000.

If this is true, expect a Russian attack on Odessa – sooner or later.

Sulyok´s old law firm was also connected to Fidesz by numerous threads. The independence of the court from the law is guaranteed.

Sulyok was appointed 10 yrs ago to the Court, by Orbán’s 2/3 majority, then became its Chief Justice in 2016. Since then, the Court has delivered decisions mostly reflecting the will of the ruling party. His old law firm was also connected to Fidesz by numerous threads. (2/3) “

There is a strong chance that new figurehead president of Hungary, Tamas Sulyok lied about his father’s past.

He claimed in a 2020 interview to a Transylvanian publication that

#1
his father was sentenced to death, in absentia, by a Hungarian People’s court in 1946.

Mr Sulyok alleged in this interview that the reason for the death sentence was his father’s legal role in a post-war divorce case in Szekesfehervar.

This is almost impossible.

The people’s courts were run by the coalition parties in 1945-1947, not by the Communist party alone. They acquitted plenty of 1941-1945 murderers, condemned to death less than 500, of which less less than 130 were actually executed [if my memory is correct].

#2
His father lived in illegality (under false name) in Hungary between 1946 and 1956.

This is unlikely.

But there is an example, Mihaly Francia-Kiss, one of the most prominent 1919 pogromist murderers of Orgovany was condemned to death in 1948, lived under an assumed name between 1948 and 1957, finally caught in May 1957 and executed in August 1957.

Sulyok: “I was born in [March of] 1956, my father’s papers were ready by then”
and his father worked as a lawyer again from 1957. Incredible

Why doesn’t Mr Sulyok reveal his father’s real name even now?

https://kronikaonline.ro/erdelyi-hirek/sulyok-tamas-kolozsvaron-az-alkotmanybirosag-elnoke-szerint-az-egykori-meghurcoltak-peldaja-a-szabadsag-vallalasarol-szol

Otherwise, T. Sulyok was a lawyer. Orban made him a member and later the chairman of the “Constitutional” Court (in a country without constitution), where he served Orban’s wishes faithfully in the last 10 years,

Hungarian foreign minister Szijjarto is visiting Iran and gave an interview to the official “Islamic Republic News Agency” published February 26

“when it comes to the American ambassador to Budapest, he has a double function. He is an American ambassador and leader of the Hungarian opposition. Actually. So he interferes with domestic issues. He makes statements which are totally unacceptable.”

Q: [cca]: Confirm that the US and Soros do not only finance the opposition in Iran but in Hungary too

A. Szijjarto is happy to confirm it.

“during the last elections was, that it was so suspicious that all the opposition parties, seven of them, from far right to the far left,[…] they were on the same ticket. And it turned out that tens of millions of dollars had been invested into them from the United States.”

“So in order not to allow any more such foreign interference to take place in Hungary, we have been implementing a strict law which aims at the protection of the sovereignty of the country, which will make it very complicated, let’s put it this way, to interfere by financial means into domestic issues in Hungary. But it’s obvious, I mean, it’s not a secret, it’s open, that many media outlets in Hungary, which are supposed to be independent, as they say, and many so-called NGOs, are being financed by foreign sources. And the network of George Soros is definitely among the number one financiers.”

The sovereignty of the country … is the will of a Hungarian psychopath. He has never concealed what kind of person he is. From my point of view, he is a victim of his upbringing and really no great exception to the people. It just sucks if you don’t belong to the ruling psychopaths even though you are a psychopath.

Another side is not funny today when the disclosure of grievances leads to the loss of sovereignty of the country, which seems ridiculous, the grievance itself is not decisive but causal. All that is needed is proof, be it constructed, that money has flowed from a to b. Of course, this requires a full investigation by state authorities, even if it takes years … Orbanstyle.

János Csák is Orban’s minister of “Culture and Innovation”.

(There is no minister of Health or minister of Education in today’s Hungary.
The minister of Interior oversees the police, the health care and the education.)

Let us see what Mr Csák did today.

#1
He ordered five museums and the National Library merged under the leadership of a proven uncultured Transylvanian guy.

I expect massive destruction of books and artifacts that do not fit in the regime’s current doctrinaire view of history, which praises every Dark Age of Hungary.

The resurrected order proclaims a pro-Putin view these days.

We help Ukraine also out of our own national interest,” he said.

This story was fascinating https://magyarnemzet.hu/kulfold/2024/02/orban-viktor-szavaira-reagalt-a-kreml#google_vignette (title in translation “The Kremlin reacted to Viktor Orbán’s words.”

It was about a statement Orban made a day ago that Russia does not pose a threat to those states from which it is not threatened and that he did not want a common border with Russia either.

Putin’s mouthpiece Dmitri Peskov said Orban had nothing to worry about with Russia at all. It seems the Russians are worrying that Orban who they know is a political shapeshifter may be evolving in the direction of NATO yet again.

I think you draw the wrong conclusion here. If Orbán intends to change course, he would have to prepare very carefully. Change his tune and carry out much diplomatic work before anyone but the far right nationalists would begin to take him seriously.
On the surface, well perhaps, but then not really, because he only echoe’s Putin’s narrative, in a mirrored version. That’s another blatant attempt at further influencing Hungary into accepting Putin’s thinking.
If you look at Orbán’s latest interaction with Nato, everybody got what they wanted.
Putin got a view of how easily the alliance’s decision-making is impaired by one smaller member (as ordered) and Hungary keeps recieving the gas and oil flowing from Russia.
Swedish arms manufacturers most probably benefit from dealing with a corrupt regime, in the long run and you don’t hear any complaints from Sweden.

The US has pretty much abandoned Ukraine and the EU has done an admirable job trying to keep the Ukrainians from collapse.

I suspect if Biden is re-elected military aid to Ukraine will flow, but it will be under a cloud year to year for any future Biden administration. The USA is now immediately faced with a vast ecological crisis due to climate change related disasters that are spreading. That crisis is costing astronomical amounts of money (coming from the FEMA budget and State budgets see https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2023/09/27/government-shutdown-fema-disaster-aid-delays/ ) and is combined with the potential of parts of the California coast becoming inhabitable, on-going wildfires, simultaneously occurring with rain events destroying highways in many places. Our migrant crisis is not ending because parts of Central America have crossed the threshold of average temperatures that are destroying economies and promoting crime driving people to seek refuge in the USA.

If Trump is elected it is likely there will be no more military aid at all coming from the USA for Ukraine and even our support for NATO is in question. Trump will use our military to stop border crossings and will be applauded for doing so if he gets elected and stays out of jail.

Neither Orban nor even Tusk in Poland want a Russian military presence immediately across their border with Ukraine which is indeed something Putin might want reestablished if he has either an outright victory or a forced peace settlement imposed on Ukraine.

Don Kichote
Don Kichote
March 1, 2024 17:33

I doubt that Orban has a problem with a common border with Putin’s Russia. Orban has certainly talked to Putin about the old territories long time ago. Orban is said to have spoken openly about the division of Ukraine in the V4 group, there was even an article about it. Orban was quoted as saying that one part should go to Poland long before the Ukraine war. Orban wanted a common policy against the EU. This also explains the nationalist foreign policy not only in Transylvania as stringent. Why should Orban have a problem with a common border if he is successful? I see no logical reason.

Don Kichote
Don Kichote
March 1, 2024 18:53

Here is a funny rel. new article about how afraid Orban is of a Russian border. Isn’t the far-right party Our Homeland part of Orban’s conglomerate? He has probably delegated his old goals to his speakeasies.

Far-right parties in Hungary and Romania are making plans for a future in which Russia wins the war against Ukraine. Because then they want to divide up Ukraine.”

February 28, 2024 17:38

This article from Russia offers a so called peace deal to Ukraine that would be a best a bitter one https://globalaffairs.ru/articles/ulovka-24/

Essentially the Ukrainians would surrender all the occupied territories and not become part of NATO as a precondition.

It is hard to imagine the Servant of the People Party in Ukraine agreeing with anything like that unless complete collapse was inevitable with Russian troops inside of Kyiv itself. Then of course Putin would be adding additional conditions like requiring the removal of Zelensky and all those he declared to be Nazis from the government.
